Rookie question about room service

Hi everyone,

I leave in a few weeks for a Med cruise on the Gem, and I'm super excited.  I have a rookie question about room service.  For the free continental breakfast room service, is it customary to tip?  If so, how much does one typically give?  Is $3-$5 enough, too much?  Thanks in advance for your insight! 🥐

On a European itinerary I'd consider giving cash tips in Euros or the predominant currency for the countries visited on the itinerary, that way the crew member doesn't need to exchange it if they go on shore and want to spend it.

If someone is bringing something to my door, I’m tipping, food, pillows, iron… If I’m at a hotel, I’m tipping for room service on top of the room service fee, the person who brings my luggage, housekeeping for extra towels.

We ordered room service on our EPIC med cruise a few months ago on the day we had an early excursion. The problem was that there is no place to put the tray other than your bed in the Club Balcony Suites. There's just so little counter space. Even thought it was complimentary we didn't order again. Too much of a hassle to be worth it.
