OBC cash out at casino?

I am on Odyssey now and had some excursions canceled so I needed this workaround.

- Go to a slot ($0.05?), activate your card as instructed earlier. Load the desired money.

- Spin none, once, whatever you like.

- Click cash out (ticket will be printed), and select logout

- Go to the cashier with your ticket and collect cash

if you don’t wager at least 50% your account will be frozen meaning you can’t add funds to the casino so make sure you do the initial load correctly. Not sure if this lasts 24 hours.

For the record: I won $24 in the $0.05 slot machine so I converted my non-refundable OBC and made enough money to buy a souvenir t-shirt 🙂

FWIW, I've never had a "Convenience Charge" applied to my account, nor have I ever had my account frozen for not betting at least half of my transferred amount.

I think the most I've ever done on a single cruise is $400. The only thing I ever bet with is the promotional $8 they give me each cruise (the $2 that everyone gets, plus my $6 for being D+).  I cash out all of the money that I transferred from my room account.

I've stopped bringing so much cash with me, and instead have been using the slot machines as a no-fee ATM.  The amount gets charged to my room account, which gets charged as a regular purchase (not a cash advance) on my credit card bill.  Saves me from having to travel with lots of cash (my next batch of cruises is over ten weeks straight), and I get credit card points/cashback each time.

I now get all obc out in one go ( it’s always less than $500).

Get it out at once then never go to the casino 🎰 again so it doesn’t matter if they freeze your card for 24 hrs.

FWIW my card was frozen ( Voyager the first time I tried this) and I was told I had to play ( aka lose!) 25%.

You cannot get out the free spin $ out so you do have to play this sum.

So last cruise, I would transfer $1,000 to the slot. Are you saying had I only played say $100 or $200 of it and decided to move machines, my account would have been frozen since I didn't play 50% of it on that machine? Granted I never ran into the issue since I lost every time I transferred $1k but still.

Yes, I did that on my Equinox cruise a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks for the quick response. Wondering if all X ships do as I'll be on Eclipse.

I'm sure that they all do but the process might be different on each ship. I suggest you tell the casino cashier that you want to transfer OBC. On Equinox, I was given a card with instructions and was able to set up the casino account and transfer OBC on one of the slots. On Constellation last year, the cashier transferred the OBC since the slots were not set up for it.

5% charge incurred, but YMMV.

If it's money that you wouldn't have gotten otherwise, the 5% probably isn't a big deal to most people.  If my option for $400 in non-refundable OBC is to get $380 in cash or $0 in cash, I'd be taking the $380 with a smile on my face!!!

Yes, just letting people know of the potential surcharge.
