What is lab-administered Covid test

Reading through the pre-cruise testing document on the MSC website. It talks about needing the "lab administered Covid test". Does anyone know what this means? 

Will they still accept the emed proctored test?

A few of us on here have been wondering the same thing. 
It seems like MSC doesn’t proofread what they put on their website. 
Some of us have called to ask about the lab administered test and the home proctored tests and we’ve had a few different answers. No surprise as their reps really don’t seem to know exactly what is going on. 
 

We’ve been on two cruises since 11/21 and we’ve used the home proctored tests both times. We do plan to use them again in December because we can print out the “lab administered” results from the email they send us. 
 

Hoping by then we won’t need to test for a 14 day cruise.

I reached out to our TA over this very issue.  The response was rapid antigen or PCR test.  They have thrown the "lab administered" verbiage because they are not accepting any non-proctored home self tests.  The proctored self-tests are also acceptable.  Further, you have to provide a printed copy of your results.  We have our tests scheduled for Friday at CVS.  I have been assured that this is fine as long as I print the results and present them upon embarkation.

TL;DR version: If you think about what the cruise industry is doing right now, the idea that MSC would be banning rapid antigen tests is almost certainly not what is meant. Heck, Royal/Celebrity now say you can proctor your own test. But also, what they have always asked for a CLIA lab certified result, which the eMed tests (and probably OnPoint and RapidTestAndTrace) certainly does provide.

Agree, waiting for MSC email saying as of ….. no testing is necessary. I know that at this point in time their cruises five nights or less for vaxxed do not require testing. We are seven nights in September, said it before, could have booked a four night and a three night and voila! no testing required, plus would have received two free nights in steakhouse.
