How are the enrichment programs on Princess cruises?

How are the enrichment programs on Princess cruises?   

 

I love learning about different ports, cultures, histories etc (loved visiting the Smithsonian museums wben I was in D.C. a few years ago.  Also programs like Cosmos and BBC Earth).  I've read that several cruise lines now have planetariums, which is very exciting.  I'll be on a week long cruise from Vancouver to L.A. next month, and hope there will be some good programs on board 🙂

Your 7 day cruise is not considered a "long" cruise.  It will have 3 ports and 3 sea days if you are on the Grand Princess.  

 

I would be surprised if they have more than one port talk/enrichment.  You might see a culinary demonstration on the last sea day.  There will be no lectures on port days:  No Bingo.  No gambling. No shopping.   A few Cruise Director games (but don't expect much).

We have experienced excellent enrichment talks and commentators on the our Princess cruises for Alaska, Panama Canal and British Isles! The Alaska cruises were 7 nights long.

We just got off the Discovery for the Inside Passage.  At least 3 lecturers on board...there might have been another.  They were excellent.

I just realized that I may have given inaccurate info above...sorry!  There were (I think) 4 *lectures* on board...they may very well have all been done by the same person.  I only went to one so cannot say with certainty.

A 7 day costal cruise with stops at Astoria, S.F. and S.D. probably will not have lots of enrichment talks. There may be port talks that are not port shopping talks. It will not be like Alaska. But, with that said you never know who Princess will have on board.
