Tried to make reservation at DaVinci.  Alas, it is closed on Sunday and Monday which are the nights we are going to be there.   Will check out the other suggestions though.

Rachel…..how was your time in Montreal?

Meant to also ask if you have any dining reservations in Montreal..??

Yes.  Big problem as lots of restaurants are closed Sunday and Monday which are the days we are there.  But we have reservations at Brasserie 701 on Sunday night and Bis on Monday.  We have a rental car reserved for Monday as my husband wants to get out of the city.  What recommendation do you have for hiking not too far away?

also, I am having terrible issues with ArriveCAN.  It wants to know where I will be staying.  I select other, as it is a ship, and it wants an address and will not let me go further.

Rachel....ArriveCAN has been a real issue for lots of people. Friends from here flew up to Toronto for a river cruise out of there, ending in Portland, Maine and they were really having problems like you mention. My Bride went over to their house to help them out and they just input the name of their ship under "Hotel" and had no problems.

Two very good choices for dinner and would suggest you go to Old Montreal early before Brasserie 701 and walk around there....a beautiful area full of amazing history and architecture. There is so much construction and traffic around Montreal that getting off the island to do a hike may be problematic. If you had more time I would have suggested a drive to St. Sauveur but with construction, etc. I would not recommend it for the time you have. A terrific "hike" would be on Mont Royal and around Beaver Lake there. Very serene and beautiful walking area. If you were to do that, I would suggest not renting a car and simply taking Uber there and back from your hotel.....a short distance and you could ask the driver to take you around McGill University, which is on the way. Ubers are friendly and plentiful in Montreal, and virtually all the drivers also speak English.

we are planning on doing Mont Royal on Tuesday morning before embarkation.  And yes, planning on using uber in town.  I will talk to my husband about the traffic issues though.  He just doesn't much like cities.

Did what you suggested with the arrivecan and it worked with that.  I guess they don't really want to know where I will be for the entire trip.

Arrive CAN is a mess and so many people and politicians in Canada are trying to get it tossed. You will get a sense of the traffic and construction issues on your way from the airport to the Vogue. Keep phones handy and on when you get to the airport in Montreal to see if you have been randomly selected for a PCR test. If so, you don't want to have to go back to the airport the next day......you are supposed to be notified within 15 minutes of landing. My notification was beyond the 15 minutes so had to do the traffic/construction "fun" my next day again. Definitely look into the construction issues on the island and bridges taking you off island (Montreal)....they can make your head spin. Walking around Old Montreal is very much like being in Europe. Personally, I have zero tolerance for bad traffic, especially caused by the never ending construction in Montreal.

My Bride just made another suggestion if you want to get away from the downtown core and do some walking…..Ile St. Helene (St. Helen’s Island). From your hotel by Uber….a short drive and nice to visit. Very nice casino there as well.

ArriveCAN - just completed the forms and have an e-receipt for this.  Also had to go to eh LifeLabs website to 'register for a test'  in case we are randomly chosen to their arrival testing.  Problem is - we arrive after 9pm on 9/20 and the airport-area lab is closed by that time.  So, if one of us is chosen we have to go the next morning to get tested...grrrr...and it says 'test results will be emailed to you within 4 days...'  We'll be long-gone by then! We will be staying relatively near the airport for that 1 night so hopefully won't be much of a hassle if we do have to go back.

Next question - I "thought" I read somewhere that we have to do ANOTHER ArriveCAN form since we'll be boarding Mariner the next day (9/21) - or was I dreaming?  When do we have to do that one?

When I was randomly selected a month or so ago on a short visit to Montreal, we got my results back within 24 hours. But because we were already out of the airport and arrived at our hotel by the time I was notified I was one of the "lucky chosen few" we had to go back to the airport the next day for the PCR test. Construction and traffic were brutal.

I posted this on another thread, but here it is again. Hope this helps:

Entering Canada by land or air before embarking on a cruise

You must complete your ArriveCAN submission before entering Canada, no more than 72 hours of boarding your flight or before entering Canada by land.

If you’re flying in to join a cruise immediately, enter the address of your terminal.

If you’re not joining the cruise immediately, enter the address of your hotel.

You must also submit a second ArriveCAN submission no more than 72 hours before boarding the cruise. This applies even if your second ArriveCAN submission is within 72 hours of the first submission.

Upon your entry to Canada by air or at a land border crossing, the border services officer may notify you that you’ve been randomly selected for a mandatory arrival test.

Mandatory random testing is part of the Government of Canada surveillance program to track the importation of COVID-19 virus into Canada, and identify new variants of concern.

It keeps taking me back to my current authorization as though I am trying to modify it?

If you are looking to input cruise info/address, just type under “hotel” your ship’s name and you should be good to go.

Ao...it's going to go on the SAME e-receipt number?  I don't want to void the first one.

Just delete the first one and put in the ship.  For location put in:

Other

Regent Seven Seas Mariner

Canada Place

Vancouver (will pre fill in)

V6C 3L5

We arrive night before (at midnight) so didn't bother with hotel address.

Ok, so since the “rules” tell us to do 2 ArriveCan submissions- one when you fly in and stay overnight in hotel and the second for embarkation of ship (I know this doesn’t make much sense but I think they are just tracking where you will be). I’m guessing that you have already submitted the first ArrCan for the hotel stay and got an e-receipt? But you you haven’t arrived yet in Canada.  My best guess is that since your first submission is still active you can’t have 2 active “arrivals” at the same time.  Just wait until you arrive at the hotel the day before embarkation and then do the second ArriveCan and you will get the second e-receipt.

Jeez....what's  wrong with them?  This is so ridiculous.   Will try what you suggest.

Thanks for suggestions.  We arrived without any issues.  Pouring rain and is supposed to pour tomorrow as well, so cancelled the rental car as no good weather for outside activities.  So now looking for indoor activities.  The natural history museum at MCGill University is still closed for covid.

glad I looked back at this thread as I didn’t realize I have to do the ArriveCAN thing again for the ship

McCord Museum could be good with the rain. Also Pointe-a-Calliere Museum. Think you might enjoy the BioDome and find it interesting…..Part of Space of Life. Could easily take the Metro there. Guess we used up all the good weather whilst there a month ago.

Perhaps the information in the link from Sunprince is no longer valid.  It seems that both Regent and ArriveCAN have trouble keeping all their Covid requirements up to date in all the nooks and crannies of their respective websites.

In any case, I am not going to risk invalidating my ArriveCAN certificate to arrive on the 20th.  After I am safely in Canada, I will attempt to do another one to board the ship on the 21st.  However, at that point it will need to say I am arriving in Canada from Canada, which is hardly "arriving."  It will be interesting to see if their website allows me to do that.

I did the opposite; just one for the ship.  Of course, I am arriving at 2358 on the 20th so I will claim that it is 21st by time I get through immigration.
