Are the promo codes for Cherrs a thing of the past? We used all of ours (twice each which I think was the max, although I changed to a better code on one of them and didn't get my 4th use back) and then never got any more offers.  Just wondering if anyone is still getting the RU1 or 2 codes for 2023 sailings.

I stopped getting those codes over a year ago, shortly after the restart.  Felt like a desperation offer to get deposits while the ships weren't moving.  With bookings up now, they have no motivation to offer these.

That's what I was afraid of .... but I was holding out hope.

Yes, this is what I was hoping to find in either my husband's account or mine.   Sadly, I haven't seen one in several months now.   But you've given me some hope!

Just be mindful that only you will receive the free drinks. If you’re going with someone else and they have the same offer, they can get it added on for free. Or they can purchase cheers for themselves onboard.

I’m aware.  Thanks so much!

We got the RU1 a month ago.  We tried to upgrade cabins after final payment and that was the only fare available- it was not a mailing.  The best guess is it was a promo to get you to try Cheers.    It is a good question though - does a Cheers promo help sell a vacant cabin vs does it help create a new, regular Cheers package customer, or both?  We don't drink- DW was amused by the premium tea selections and unlimited bottled water - there was not a fixed tip charge for RU1- we paid ~$50 extra for the week each and Carnival and or the servers made money on us 🙂  Or is there a new marketing avenue- get non drinkers to accept Cheers promos- collect $100 extra in return for a few coffees and NA beers?   We did tip an extra dollar per order.

When I received the promo Cheers code it was more expensive to book the special rate than to book the cruise and buy Cheers.

I did a mock booking with a computer in incognito mode and figured the final dollar amount without cheers.  Then I did a mock booking with my normal computer and my rate code for Cheers on Us and it WAS more expensive than booking without and then buying it.

but...

I also did the same thing for the rate code w/ $500 on board credit and the booking with the rate code for the OBC was $300 higher than the normal booking - so we spent an extra $300 to get $500 - and I'll be using that OBC to buy Cheers anyway LOL

This is good to know!  We have a booking for 2023 under my VIFP and it has DOU in the casino but just for me.  DH has same offer but I didn't know he could add the DOU.  How do we do that?  If we wait til on board, that promo under his name will be expired.  Thanks for the tip!

Just curious how much you spend to get these offers.  Usually my Early Saver offers are better than the ones I get for the casino even.   Occasionally we get a DOU offer in the casino buy never anything like this one.   Jealous!

I haven’t sailed since 2016, so I’m guessing they are trying to get me back.  I tend to spend a lot of time in the casino.  Probably 20 hours or more on a 7-night cruise.  I play blackjack and my base bet ranges from $10 to $25 per hand.  I’ve had cruises where I’ve lost over $1,000 but I’ve also had others where I’ve won.  I’m not sure how to answer how much I “spend”, so hopefully that answers your question.

So we booked three cabins for December on the Sunrise. It appears that the people in our group that didn't get cheers on the last cruise were the only ones to have the cheers to you rate in their promos. We did some room swapping so now we all have Cheers for $90 each. The drinkers (including myself) are winning, but even the light drinkers will still win, as they usually get 2 drinks a day, which goes over breaking even.

So I went to www.carnival.com, and signed on, and one of the available VIFP offers is Cheers to You- RU1- expiring 9/8.   Note we are not casino participants.   So on the same cruise, the RU1 fare was $55 more each person than the cheapest other offer for the whole three day Miami booking.  This is even though I have already used the RU1 code once.  OP says "twice each" might be the limit.  This code might be deployed also for cases where they are competing with NCL who have "open bar" fares?

I’ve always just called the casino line.
