Also leaving at 12 noon on Wednesday instead of 4 pm. Not much time to do anything on Wednesday. It is the Melbourne Cup cruise, so it is dedicated to that event, and buses will shuttle from whatever wharf to Flemington & back. I wasn't aware they had a 4pm departure, as they normally depart late on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.

I do not know how the tender operation went. As for Cairns, Barry, google Cairns Port and check capacity. Last time I was at Airlie was on QM2 , Syd to HK in March 2017. Not that many embarked the tenders, it was way too hot and humid for the many poms on board, lol. Yes it was not nice walking around Airlie that day, 2 hrs did us. Tendering is a breeze at Airlie, so Quantum should cope easily. The main issue with tendering is the wharf on the shore. Airlie has multiple drop points on the wharf, the assistance of local cats, and sheltered conditions. Cairns - all but 3 of this year's ships will fit into Mission Wharf - excepting Ovation, Quantum & Majestic. We will be tendering at the knob tomorrow.

Not much point in having an overnight in Cairns for Quantum then? In March 2023

In March 2023 The Cairns Casino might run a night shuttle bus from Yorkeys Knob totown, just to take your donation at the aforesaid establishment, Baz. We were planning to walk to tram 109 from Station Pier on Wednesday morning for a short visit to the city, now time too short and you have to use a shuttle out of port as it is an industrial port. Price to be advised once on board. Lol

(About a forty min drive to Resort). I'd have a seafood lunch at the Resort. The second day I'd drive to Shute Harbour and take a short ferry ride to South Mole Island (National Park). On the left, before you reach Shute Harbour there is a walk to the water where we saw a dugong. If we're ever on the same cruise, allow me to shout you a drink. What a ripper of a suggestion, thank you. Car is now booked for the two days, I've sussed out the resort, sussed out the ferry from Shute Harbour, and even have another possible contention for lunch on day 2 at Northerlies Bar and Grill. Truly appreciate your suggestion.
