Spring Break on Beyond, March 2023

Hello fellow cruise fans!

 

My family is booked on the Beyond in March during my daughter's Spring Break from college.  Having never sailed on Celebrity before, I'm concerned there won't be enough "fun" for my daughter and her friend (both 21).   

 

I know the average age of travelers is a bit older on Celebrity, but I'm hoping during Spring Break there are some younger cruisers who are fun-loving and lively.  

 

Does anyone have any experience?

This topic of 'fun' on a cruise seems to be popping up more frequently. It all depends on what type of 'fun' they are looking for. Celebrity is a 'make your own kind of fun' cruiseline. During the daytime, poolside games will consist of trivia, golf putting, cornhole tossing, volleyball games, cardio classes-nothing wild and crazy, even during Spring break. That's about it. Nighttime there the shows, casino, silent disco night, dancing at the Club. Nighttime Deck Parties do occur on Celebrity but TBH they are sparsely attended - you're not going to see half the ship out on deck doing the Shuffle like on a Carnival or Virgin ship.

You will definitely have some more younger people during Spring break, even on Celebrity.

Thank you for your reply!  The cruise photos/videos I've seen on Beyond so far are during European destinations, so might not be a good representation of when she sails from Ft. Lauderdale.

Royal will have more activities such as bumper cars, circus, flow rider, water slides, etc.

No you can’t move a booking between the 2 cruise lines.

Since  you are committed, if you daughter and her friend are happy with with a more upscale scale experience vs frat party they will be fine.  A great pool to hang at during the day, a drink at the Martini bar pre dinner,  music at the Club later in the evening, and the shows at Eden around 11 are also very good. It just depends on their expectations,

If you booked with a refundable deposit you could shift it or cancel it with 100% refund of deposit if a U.S. Booking.    Even if a non-refundable the penalty to move it is $100 pp but the sometimes waive it

The 'younger' crowd during that time is more likely younger familiar with elementary and high school aged kids. The average age on E class cruises does seem to skew younger, but by younger I would say more in their 30's to early 40's. The average age will still be 50+. I've never been on a Celebrity cruise with many college aged people. Since you're already booked it is what it is, but there aren't a lot of activities aside from eating, drinking, shows and the occasional brief poolside dance class type of thing. 

 

I would have been bored out of my mind traveling with my parents at that age, but everyone is different.
