Nieuw Statendam Beethoven Deck 4 cabins

A couple of things.  First, get a cabin that is not above the World Stage, Casino or Dining Room.  I think we were above the photo shop so it was quiet.  We DID have tenders hanging out across the deck from us, but we could definitely see beyond them.  Most of the time when we were on deck, we were conversing or reading.  Also, those with the tenders out from tend to be a little less in price, if you are going for that.  Not sure anymore where the covid rooms are.  Reading here on the CC forum, people have been staying in their rooms because some of the ships have higher capacity so they can't move people like the past.  But, I am not swearing to that.  Go to Halfacts.com and look at the staterooms on 4 for those that have posted photos.  Also, google Holland American Nieuw Statendam staterooms pdf and you will see the layout of the floors and what is below each stateroom.

Be careful you aren't under a kitchen galley.  Could be white space next to the dining room.  You'll be up all night with what sounds like a marching band above you......all bangs and clangs. We were there once and when I went to the guest services, they acted like they never heard of this before.  Eventually, they gave us a "sleeping" cabin but it should never be this hard.  Why they sell these cabins is beyond me.

We had a room above the World Stage on the Koningsdam this summer due to some last minute planning. As we were usually at the shows, it never bothered us. For people who get to bed earlier, it would have been pretty disruptive on the nights had the later dance shows.

I would think above a dining room wouldn't be bad. Shouldn't the dining room quiet down by bed time?

I know that in the past some people complained about hearing carts moving around probably cleaning and setting up for morning. I had a room right above and between where the dining room stewards clean up and the elevators and I didn't hear anything.  I mostly pointed it out just because it is a large area where noise could be present.

Over a venue is largely better than under. The air-space lessens the noise that the "floor" (your ceiling) conducts! However, over the World Stage may be an exception, as the "noise" is amplified AND it is not only during the shows (that you may be attending) but also during rehearsals at times you may be hoping for a nap.

Under a Galley would be the worst. They prep and cook and roll heavy carts ALL NIGHT LONG. Have also heard that under a pool deck is to be avoided as the wash down and rearrange the loungers at 4-5 in the morning. Also watch out for the "Queen's Lounge" on ships where it is still called that, because at night (until 11pm) it becomes BBKings Blues Club.

We were on the Rotterdam in 4062 a bit forward of the BB Kings but in July/August the bass was very penetrating - up the 2 floors and into our cabin. Nothing from the Rock Room. Didn't worry us as we are late to bed but if you are sensitive to noise go further forward.

We have booked 4041 on the NS for Sept/Oct next year to get further forward but as I said above we likely won't be bothered if the noise travels that far.

We were on Nieuw Statendam in Aug/Sept. and stayed in Beethoven 4209 which was above the dining room. We never heard a thing. Loved the deep balcony. Re: verandas above seeing down to ours, there was plenty of privacy under the overhang of the balcony above. I'd stay in that cabin again.

If the ship runs through a sea squall the superstructure overhead will drain for a period of time right across your balcony.

True, but that's not the only Pinnacle Class deck with overhead inset.  Although not as significant of an inset as structure above Deck 4, the structure above about half of Deck 8 balconies is inset also.  That might actually be more consequential to Deck 8 guests. The covered portion of Deck 4 balconies is essentially as full depth as the balconies above.  The Deck 8 balconies are regular depth but half exposed, leaving much less uncovered area than the Deck 4 large-balcony cabins.

To the opposite extreme, balconies on Deck 8 cabins in inset portions of the ship (above lifeboats and tender boats) are covered with a very large overhang.  That's great for those wanting more weather protection and shade from the sun but not for those wanting to sit in the sun.

Does anyone know the location on deck 4 of the Isolation/Covid-19 cabins ?.

I did a search on "quarantine" on this page up on the right side in the search box and then pulled down "This Forum" and got some results.  I did read somewhere that a CC member was quarantined in their stateroom and NOT moved.  That may have been due to the ship being full and HAL not keeping a whole bank of quarantine rooms as before, OR the person was already in a Verandah room.  I would go ahead and look at those search results and see if anything matches up to your question if no one responds here.

I was on Deck 4 (4135) for an 18 day crossing from Copenhagen to Boston. I liked the location, but we were near the quarantine cabins. It was pretty quiet... it was a huge balcony, but was partially obstructed.

We are looking at this cabin for a European cruise next summer for a family of 4.  I have seen some pictures and it does not look like there is a bed in the ceiling. Is that correct?

We were on the Koningsdam in room 4191.  Over the MDR, but you are over the fixed dining area....we never heard a peep, and my DH is a very light sleeper.

Here's a video.  We had 3 rooms side by side by side, so you can see how the decks are with the dividers open.  The only downfall that I have had with one of these rooms, is you get a better view on a higher floor.

I don't know if that deck/room has space for 4. There was a small loveseat that might have made into a bed for one other person. I didn't notice the one in the ceiling, but when I look at the deck plan it says there is one there. On Holland, they really are flat into the ceiling and hard to see. 🙂

Just to add...we stayed in 4034 and *loved* the room. Huge balcony, no obstruction.

However, there was noise from the stage, so if you go to bed before 10pm or so you'll hear that. It wasn't very loud and didn't bother us at all - we'd stay in that cabin again - but if you go to bed early and are a light sleeper it might bother you.
