Would I like Virgin Voyages?

No, all tables are for six or more. You might be able to get a table for two if they aren’t busy but it is unlikely unless you are willing to dine at 9.30pm.

Depends how busy the ship is and which restaurant but it can be possible. Especially at 6pm or after 9pm. But I would recommend getting reservations to start with and only trying for walk up if your plans change.

Spirit and mixer is $7, mixed cocktails $12-16. Glass of wine $6-13 generally.

Thank you so much!

No tables for 2 at Gunbae.  All are shared tables for 6.  How much you socialize with others is up to you.

Valiant, October 2022 cocktails $8-13, beers $5 and up, wines mostly about $10  Of course depending on what you want, the sky's the limit, but these were the typical ranges.

Walk ups were often available in the restaurants, but our ship was right about 50% full (1400 while ship holds 2770).  We had no trouble making same day reservations, which is what we usually did rather than the walk up line.  If you have a 7:30 reservation but are hungry at 6 or 7, just look on the app and see what is available....or walk up and see if you can eat early.  We never waited more than 10 minutes and were only turned away once (so we went elsewhere and were seated).  The app lets you see which restaurants have what times open before you decide whether to cancel an existing reservation.

My original plan was to only make reservations for the first few nights.  Due to a malfunctioning app, I had to call VV to do this.  The rep strongly encouraged me to make a reservation for each night as "sometimes they do fill up," knowing that I could always change things...and we made a lot of changes over 14 nights.  Don't be afraid to experiment.  Restaurants that I thought would be "just ok" ended up being some of our favorites.

Honestly, food looks terrific.  I was panic stricken about the restaurant concept (not getting reservations, eating burgers every night) but it seems there aren't that many people in any of these pictures?  I guess since we're old and like to eat early it'll be even easier.

Our first cruise with them is only 4 nights, so will have to decide which to pick.

Just noticed I'm going to be on another vacation when my window to make reservations opens up - I won't have access to a computer - so it's ok to call in and talk to a rep?  I liked the one I had so much who helped me with some other questions I wonder if I should track him down, have no idea how to do that.

all reservations are done via the phone app, or you can call sailor services for them to make them for you.

Dinner at Extra Virgin tonight. About to toot our own horns here. My husband and I are very friendly, outgoing people that enjoy interacting with everyone onboard and we're also very low maintenance. We're on a casino comped cruise and while my husband, who is the gambler in our family, made his contribution to the casino he is by no means a big, big gambler. I mention this because we had the most wonderful meal tonight at Extra Virgin and what made it the best meal to date is not only the food but the attention from the entire staff, from our main server to the restaurant manager. The reason for this is we are interacting with all the same employees at all levels during lunchtime at the Galley. One would have thought we both were some important VIPs or big whale gamblers but the truth is nothing of the sort. Bottom line? We are NICE PEOPLE that takes time from our vacation to treat the employees with respect and courtesy everyone deserves.

Anyway here are some photos of our dinner at Extra Virgin.

Is it possible to visit 2 different restaurant on the same night? Have dinner in the 1st one, and the

maybe just dessert after 9pm-ish?

It is definitely possible, we've done it.  On the last night of our 14 night cruise, we  had  appetizers and pasta at Extra Virgin and desert at Razzle Dazzle.  You can only make one reservation per night, but we had no problem doing a walk in at RD.

As to the question about reservations--you can make them on the app (provided it is working when your window opens) or by calling VV from anywhere.  So yes, you can do it whichever works for you.  We ate in one of the restaurants each night; if we were eating burgers, it was because we ordered them (but not at dinner time!)   The dining concept worked fine for us and the food was consistently the best we've had on any ship.  There were isolated menu items on other ships that I may have liked more, and there were a couple things that were not to my liking on VV (usually because they were more spicy than I'd choose), but the overall quality was excellent.  My travel partner and I often tried each other's orders, and we have significantly different tastes, so that's where the "too spicy for me" would come in.  Also...Gunbae allowed me to order "sauce on the side" for their chicken so it was a lot more to my liking!  And like any other ship, if you don't like it they will bring you something else.  We never had that problem either.  It was more like "too many great choices."

You are correct, there was not a lot of people. Our reservations were at 8:30 on Scarlet Night so most of the people were attending the events. We had 1,100 sailors on our 6 night. Most of the other nights we had 6pm reservations and it worked out perfectly.

My opinion, if you were trying to hit each restaurant in 4 days, would be to eat at Extra Virgin, Pink Agave, Test Kitchen, and Gunbae. The Wake and Razzle Dazzle you can brunch at, you’ll miss some tasty dinner items but those were excellent brunches. You could definitely replace those and still have an awesome time.

The app reservations open 12am on the date in your app, so if you’re on west coast time you can start making reservations at 9pm. Calling works as well, but you could be waiting on hold. If you have questions on the app and how to schedule make a post and folks will help you out.

More Virgin food porn. I'll say it again their sweets and baked goods are high-end bakery quality. The upper left is a banana Cruffin (croissant muffin). It was the f**king amazing. Banana puree inside this warm muffin shaped croissant.
