Renewal of UK passport

Has anyone recently renewed their UK passport. The Government site states it can take up to 10 weeks.  I would like to know if anyone has received it recently quicker than that please.

Applied for my daughter's first adult passport in May as we had booked a holiday in August.

 

It was back within a couple of weeks.

We renewed our passports in August, received the new one a week later.

I renewed my adult passport in August and it took exactly 2 weeks.

The only problem I had was deciding if the cover was black or a really dark blue 🤣

Mine was last May, when the bad publicity was at its height (they advertised 10 weeks then as well) and it took 8 working days including postage both ways.

 

The big delays were for new applications, not renewals, because new applications need actual paperwork, and the company outsourced to open the letters was running behind. And of course no-one in the offices to help solve anything because they were all working from home. It seems to have gone quiet now, so perhaps they've sorted it.

Did my renewal thro post office on a monday and had new one hand delivered friday morning. Couldnt fault it.

Up to ten weeks is between 1 and 70 days.  Most people focus on the 70 days, (ten weeks) thinking that is what it will always take.

... just to add a more recent data-point...

 

Completed online application on Sunday, posted old passport on Tuesday (1st Class Signed for), new passport out for delivery today (Saturday).

 

Edit: ... and just arrived at 8:30am (posted through the door by TNT, no need to sign for it).

Mine took 11 days from application to receiving g the Passwörter in the post. End of May.

This website provides excellent real-world statistics on first-time and renewal elapsed time for both adults and children.

I found that the relevant graph page (under STATS at the top) was the easiest to get an overview.
