Yes, hopefully. 🤞🤞🤞 I don't think we will start with a Connoissuer Wine Lunch, though. We will not be dining with others, at least not without full disclosure. I will check. Pleased to report that escargot returned to the menu this week Delicious escargot was served on Mariner's last sailing to L.A. I enjoyed it two evenings! Excellent and not served the traditional way I discovered. Much better.

Yes, we are looking forward to it. But will we get there?? Tendering has been suspended, just as we were about to board, due to very high swells. They are setting up to tender from the other side of the ship, but not sure if that will be successful. Maybe a day by the pool ……………… not a hardship 😎

flossie009 Posted October 8, 2022 Author #35 Share Posted October 8, 2022 Well we made it off the ship for the Salsa & Salsa excursion ………. olé! It was very enjoyable. We made 4 salsas, guacamole and a dessert; plus plenty of drink & dancing. The location used for the “class” was a beach resort not far from the harbour The ingredients for our first two concoctions
flossie009 Posted October 8, 2022 Author #36 Share Posted October 8, 2022 The Regent tender crews did a good job getting us from the ship & back again in sometimes difficult conditions and through a harbour very busy with small boats It was a very hot sunny day. We were glad of the well air conditioned room where we were “salsering” (is that a word?)
Johnthesailor Posted October 9, 2022 #37 Share Posted October 9, 2022 Having fun on the ship. Met Flossie and the cruise critic folks the other day. Cruise is generally good, most staff very good. Little errors like wrong drinks delivered, less attentiveness in Compass Rose, but in general, the Regent experience. We got bumped from our selected cabin (seems the “trainee” cruise director for the next leg wanted it) to a comparable cabin but we were disappointed that they would shift us when we had selected and confirmed a particular cabin. This in turn, appears to have caused my daily Wall Street Journal to not get delivered to me. Spoke to the front desk after three days - they assured me it would be corrected. Still not getting it long into the cruise. Spoke to GM today about but he said nothing that inspired confidence that I would get it. Davor would have it fixed quickly - this GM , eh. Sorry to rant, but the internet speed makes it very difficult for me to read it online. The cruise overall is pretty good but sometimes the little issues that the GM can’ t or won’t fix can be irritating.
FengShui@Sea Posted October 9, 2022 #38 Share Posted October 9, 2022 (edited) We are continuing to enjoy the voyage. The food and service in Compass Rose has been excellent. Today is Sunday but I don’t see any mention of the large Sunday brunch they normally have, however caviar is being served at breakfast apparently. We dined in Chartreuse on Friday and the food was excellent. The decor could definitely use some improvement. It has very little art on the walls, and an ugly gold coloured curtain covering an entire wall at the back of the room. I am curious to know what is behind that curtain! We have a couple that camp out in the Observation Lounge every day who insist that the soft music be turned down to a level where it can no longer be heard. I find it odd that the staff comply despite the impact on the rest of us who are there enjoying the music. The staff should suggest the couple go to the library where it is so quiet you could hear a pin drop. I am seldom the squeaky wheel but when this first happened I asked that the music volume be restored. However, ‘madam’ promptly went over and insisted it be turned down, which it was, and we left. Thanks to all that suggested I request a different hair dryer. Mine was replaced with quite a beat up looking one but it works perfectly. That curtain hides the exit from Horizon Lounge used for egress to lifeboats through Chartreuse. Also used for any face to face immigration. I wonder if woman who demanded music be turned down was same woman on last cruise that demanded a two thirds completed puzzle be put away and another substituted because the puzzle was "too hard." zak477 Posted October 9, 2022 #40 Share Posted October 9, 2022 Glad you are having fun. Is it the same couple that walked around the Splendor, in January, without masks? She demanded that as long as they a drink in their hands they can walk anywhere??!! Oh and the husband never said a word ! We are on the Mariner on Oct. 23rd. Please don't drink all the vodka. And also leave us some food too!! 2
flossie009 Posted October 9, 2022 Author #41 Share Posted October 9, 2022 (edited) Time for some food photos 😋 First Prime 7. Not normally our favourite restaurant but this cruise we have so far had two delicious meals in there. Both times at shared tables with excellent company. Lobster Popcorn sundae (without chocolate ice cream or chocolate sauce) 14 layer chocolate cake (with the addition of vanilla ice cream) - the green is pistachio sauce Edited October 9, 2022 by flossie009

flossie009 Posted October 9, 2022 Author #47 Share Posted October 9, 2022 (edited) The night before last we dined in Chartreuse. We are OK with the decor but do find that you have to be careful with table location; avoiding the entrance & exit from the kitchen Susan started with Foie Gras Terrine, followed by Beef Tenderloin David enjoyed the Cheese Soufflé, and Lamb Chops for the main course The Chef’s first attempt with the steak was a fail; grossly overdone. He came out of the kitchen full of apologies and redeemed himself with the second try. Beef Lamb Edited October 9, 2022 by flossie009
flossie009 Posted October 9, 2022 Author #48 Share Posted October 9, 2022 On to desserts. David decided to try the “Rose a la Chartreuse”. Unfortunately the dessert did not fulfil the promise of its description. He changed to the cheese. Good but served plated rather than from the trolley. Rose a La Chartreuse French cheese selection Susan opted for the always dependable Crispy Apple Tart. 😋
