Help explain the blocked rooms?

Just curious as to why some staterooms are blocked out.  Anyone know why? Should I shy away from those staterooms near them?

What do you mean by blocked out?

Those spaces are various crew areas, either storage spaces, or access to crew stairways or other crew only business.

Interesting... cause there are other rooms where its only one blocked

They aren’t blocked out, those are the available cabins in that category for you to choose from. The darker one is the one that is currently chosen. 
 

edit:  if you mean the gray space, that is the crew stairs and elevator.

where there is only one space blocked it is usually a linin closet for the cabin stewards.  It is not a room.

Those cabins are blocked out because they are haunted. The ghosts of the damned, ie chair hogs, line cutters, people who sing Macarena at karaoke, their spirits eternally haunt those rooms. On the flip side those rooms are typically offered with a 5% discount so they sell out asap.

There can be a lot of activity in and out of the crew areas with doors slamming, just something to be wary of.

Are you saying that if I become a chair hog, I will come back to eternal life in a cruise cabin? I am packing lots of cheap paperbacks to put on all the chairs on my next cruise!
