CruiseScrooge Posted November 5, 2022 #1 Share Posted November 5, 2022 If not does playing the amount of the credit on slots and tables and cashing out at that point work? I'm guessing it gets asked often but i couldn't find anything.
cellfree Posted November 5, 2022 #2 Share Posted November 5, 2022 Yes it works, take $ out of on board account, play whatever, cash out, you will get a voucher you take to casino cashier.
Rare Georgia_Peaches Posted November 6, 2022 #3 Share Posted November 6, 2022 Would you mind explaining this rationale to me like I’m a 5 y/o? What would be the reason for doing this? Is it to get a cash out option on Nonrefundable obc or for something else? Genuinely trying to learn. We have a lot of obc on an upcoming cruise but most of it is refundable so I’m not too worried about using it all. The non refundable usually goes towards gratuities or other sundry items. What am I missing? Ty.

The billing shows the cruise line, and if you use a credit card with bonus points for travel category spending, you can earn a lot on a cruise. After the cruise, deposit the cash back into your bank and pay the credit card balance. Then use the miles to get to your next trip for practically nothing.
phissy Posted November 6, 2022 #5 Share Posted November 6, 2022 Georgia Peaches, with MSC it can be difficult to have OBC show up as refundable or not . Rather than risk losing the OBC , we also plan on how to use it before cruise. MSC does allow OBC to be applied to DSC. After that, we prefer to “ cash out” in casino and use cash for additional tips to staff. If you have $500 OBC, not all will be used by DSC. I go to casino…register room card for casino account, I then do this in installments, through out cruise. Just be mindful of when casino is closed to cash out vouchers. Slots, Put in room card, put in amount as $100. Remember to remove room card. I left it once 🫣. ( need PIN to use it so no damage) Play slots for a while. I usually stop at $10 loss. Hit cash out button and keep voucher, I wait until next day to cash out at casino cashier.
