Oxo Posted November 17, 2022 #1 Share Posted November 17, 2022 Has anyone recently been on the Apex in a Deluxe Porthole View Stateroom with Veranda? if you have, what was your opinion of this type cabin. TIA
Rare NMTraveller Posted November 17, 2022 #2 Share Posted November 17, 2022 (edited) I have not been on one, but from the pictures the view looks a bit obscured by the porthole. Edited November 17, 2022 by NMTraveller
Oxo Posted November 17, 2022 Author #3 Share Posted November 17, 2022 Have seen 3 views on You Tube. Most seem to be in the back of the ship. We are on Deck 7 above Eden.

The good thing is the narrator actually steps outside onto the veranda and since he's a fairly tall guy you'll get a better sense of how large the actual balcony is. These are what's considered hull balconies. TRUE outdoor space, curtains to block out the sun which can be partially closed, traditional sliding door which will keep on the AC when closed and someone is sitting outside enjoying the fresh air. IMO, they are more of a traditional balcony compared to an IV. Edited November 17, 2022 by davekathy

Someone who stayed in this category cabin, their opinion of the cabin. A very wide open request. Just like how did you like the food in the Specialty Restaurants. Just like people who want to see pics of a specific cabin.
Rare NutsAboutGolf Posted November 17, 2022 #11 Share Posted November 17, 2022 (edited) Stayed in one on the Edge, my opinion is that they're better than the IV and not as good (due to the balcony being smaller and more enclosed) as a regular balcony on another ship. Ultimately it comes down to this for most, this type of cabin is best for those who like to spend a lot of time sitting out on their balcony. Ex-Airbalancer Posted November 17, 2022 #13 Share Posted November 17, 2022 Our daughter got one on the Apex April TA as a free upgrade , she didn’t win a move up bid she put in for 🤣 She like the room , it was her first cruise . I thought the cabin was fine

For us, it was Caribbean sailing in July, really enjoyed having a real balcony and a cold and non-humid room.
MarkWiltonM Posted November 17, 2022 #15 Share Posted November 17, 2022 Don't forget the Sunset verandas if available. They are true verandas with an aft view.

Random Cruizer Posted November 18, 2022 #19 Share Posted November 18, 2022 I was in one of these cabins in Norway in August, and I loved it. Definitely smaller than the verandah room I had on the Eclipse in June, but it's a true verandah with sliding glass door, etc. I thought it was quite cozy. montythecat Posted November 18, 2022 #20 Share Posted November 18, 2022 We were on Apex in 6115 in October. 12 nights Eastern Mediterranean. The design of the balcony element of the cabin is slightly weird. It took a bit of getting used to but it was ok. The space is modest but we don’t use our balconies that much. However, we do like having fresh air whenever we want it. The cabin itself was certainly large enough, excellent bathroom and plenty of storage space. 6115 is slightly above the theatre so there was occasional noise from musicians practicing in the afternoons. It was not intrusive and we weren’t often there anyway. If we were to book an Edge class ship again (possibly unlikely unless it was a particularly special itinerary) there was nothing about a porthole/balcony cabin which would put us off.
