Currently On Sirena - Questions?

Day 3 on board Sirena - we should be just now starting our excursion to Nevis from Saint Kitts, but due to the time needed to transport our ill passenger to Puerto Plata, we now have a sea day today and are skipping Saint Kitts altogether. While a little disappointed (we hadn't yet visited SK), getting help for a fellow passenger who needed it will always be paramount in my mind. Happily, I haven't heard anyone complaining on the ship (yet), so that's a nice change of pace.

Yesterday was (another) very lazy day. Room service for coffee and OJ, then alternated between reading on my balcony, reading in Horizons, and hanging out in the smoking areas. (I know, I know. But we've made so many new friends there!) We also tried the slot tournament after lunch, playing against only one other couple - yes, we lost. But I finished the book that I brought on board, and meandered around the library and found another to start today. Lunch yesterday for us was in the GDR and dinner was in the Tuscan Steakhouse. GDR was a tasty little lunch as usual, but Tuscan Steakhouse was rather underwhelming. We started with escargot and a crab cake - hubs said the escargot was overcooked and tasted fishy (and he LOVES escargot). My medium rare ribeye looked like it had been steamed instead of grilled and was very sinewy, while hubs' medium ribeye had a beautiful sear and was quite nice. Ah well, can't win 'em all. The bread was tasty, as were our salads and desserts. But I think we'll try the Italian side of the menu next time!

Also stopped by the Cruise Ambassador's desk and booked a Transatlantic on Sirena for 2024. After a few days in our concierge cabin, I had to spring for a PH. The standard bathrooms, while adequate, are just a hair too small to maneuver in comfortably.

We also received confirmation that our ship is indeed sailing at capacity - which is not a surprise to those of us who received offers to transfer our booking or take a downgrade. I think the only time it's felt fully booked was at Martinis during Happy Hour, and the Sirena Lounge on the Captain's shindig night. Other than that, there are always empty lounges by the pool or a quiet nook to curl up in and watch the waves go by.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to find some wine lists to take pictures of for roadmaster, and to attempt to find the name of the flat topped almond apple pastry for SombraDeLuna. Enjoy your day - I know I will!

Westbound or eastbound TA in 2024? We are doing westbound in Nov, with two friends from the March TA this year, so we’ll see you in the smoking section if so as we will be there socialising lots (it is the best place on the ship to make friends!).

We're on the westbound TA from Amsterdam to New York. We'll see you there!

Ok, so I saw the apple almond dessert at lunch today (Taste of Greece day for lunch), but by the time we exited the GDR, the menu was already replaced by the dinner menu. Ditto for the menus on the television! I'll try to find someone to ask at dinner tonight.

This is my favourite art on Sirena, it’s so pretty.

They have the same style in that spot on Regatta. I believe that's outside Martinis right before the casino.

THANK YOU for going on this Treasure Hunt!  It looks like a muffin and is only available at breakfast and only on certain days as a special.  It can be as elusive as the delicious almond croissants (that sometimes have chocolate in them too). 😉

Funny story about that art. We have been on both the Sirena and Regatta after their "Reimagining". On the Regatta shortly after. The CD told us how during the frenzied rework the artist on one day set marks on the wall for all the glass thingamajigs to be fixed. Overnight a cleanup crew came along and took all of them off, assuming them to be within their purview!  Believe all 4 R-Class ships have the installation.

Sorry for missing posting yesterday - I was in a bit of a mood. I'm not sure what it is that makes people think it's ok to randomly spew bigoted/racist nonsense to perfect strangers, but it happened FIVE TIMES yesterday. Clearly some people's mothers never taught them the old 'if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all' maxim. We've discovered that the smaller ship size of Sirena means you consistently see the same people everywhere you go - which is both a blessing and a curse!

Anywho, day before yesterday was an unscheduled sea day. Lazed about the ship, ordered room service, and attended a veterans' gathering in Martinis in the afternoon. It wasn't printed in the Currents, but one gentleman approached Dottie about setting something up. Et voila. Around 15 or 20 people showed up and it was a lovely gathering.

Yesterday was St Vincent as a port stop, and we had an O excursion booked for 1230. Unfortunately, due to missing St Kitts, we arrived in St V much earlier than planned, so they bumped our tour to 0830. Have I mentioned I'm not a morning person? Also, there were expected thunderstorms in the morning, and it was raining off and on, so we skipped it. I had no desire to spend 6.5 hours in the rain on a beach. Later in the day, hubs and I just got off the ship and wandered the downtown areas. Everyone was so friendly in town!

Lunch yesterday was at Waves - cuban sandwich and fries for me, wagyu hamburger and fries for hubs. As always, it hit the spot. Dinner in the Grand Dining Room was Taste of India, and everything was incredible. Maybe one of the best meals we've had on the ship - but when they're all great (except for you, Tuscan Steak!), it's hard to tell.

Spent a little time in the casino, and as usual, finished up the evening in Horizons with new friends. We've met so many lovely people on the ship, that they mostly counterbalance the cranks.

I finished my book from the library yesterday and so am off to the library to find another, and then snag some lunch. Meanwhile, here are some pics from yesterday. First up, the coffee machine/pastry selections in Horizons in the morning...
