What are the large spaces on passenger decks?

Looking at the Emerald Princess (but would apply to other ships in that class), for instance, inside cabins C620, C621, C624, C625 on deck 10 are next to large areas of white space (no cabins). Wondering if that is all crew space.  And specifically, how loud it might be right next to you.  I am looking at an old-school paper brochure from 2021 so it is much easier to see all the large white spaces on various decks versus bringing it up on the website.  Thanks in advance for any insight.

Not crew space. It's housekeeping area.
You will hear nearly nothing from theses areas.

The areas also include elevators and stair-cases for crew - you will rarely see crew on the stairs and elevators that passengers are using.

Since we never know what those white spaces may be, we generally avoid being near them.

Some of them are sculleries for in-room dining glassware and tableware.  There’s also the bell boxes, where some in-room dining orders originate.

Those large spaces, in those places you ask about, are either the engine room exhausts leading to the funnel, or an AC fan room.  Most of the large centerline spaces are AC fan rooms.

We were in an inside on the Crown and it was the NOISIEST cabin EVER!!! This must have been next to an engine room or who knows what! It was NOT housekeeping and we did not sleep well. We will never do an inside again.

We have been in cabin C619 on the Crown and the Emerald. The area aft of C624/5 is used by the stewards to store their carts and supplies. There could also be other mechanical equipment that runs through that area.
