Inexplicable surplus of points/unexpected upgrade to Elite.

Hi all,

 

I got off the Apex 11/26 sailing a few weeks ago, sailing in a Sky Suite. Before this sailing, I had 205 points and was in the Select tier. However, after this sailing, I somehow earned 112 points, which somehow enabled me and my family to end up inside the Elite tier.

 

I'm not understanding why this is the case (certainly not complaining), as the Sky Suites only earn 8 points per night, and this was a 7 night cruise. Is there some kind of bonus because this sailing was booked onboard a cruise last year?

Did you stay as a single traveler in this suite? In that case you'd get double points. Alternatively maybe you booked during a double points promotion.

This past cruise it appears I got the points for my room and the room booked under my husband's offer.  I got double he got none. 

 

Could it be you had 2 rooms?

Nope, stayed with two other people in it.

Just a single room! We never saw anywhere that this was a double points promo, either.

But it almost certainly was that you booked under a double points promo given the circumstances.  I'm pretty sure you won't see it anywhere on your documentation.

 

This happened to us once as well - only learned after the points were credited that it was booked while a double points promotion was in effect.

We were given double points +4 points?? On a 12 night cruise ! Not complaining nor was I going to bring it to their attention Lol! Not sure why but happy about it 🙂
