Carried_Away Posted December 19, 2022 #1 Share Posted December 19, 2022 (edited) Gamblers, what is the etiquette for tipping beverage servers in the casino? I always get a premium drink package and don't worry about tipping elsewhere on the ship (unless service is exceptional) because the gratuity is added to the package price. But I'm not sure what to do in the casino. Sometimes the servers take my card or ask for my room number as if they are charging my drinks to my beverage package, just like every other bar does. But sometimes they don't ask for my card or room number, and I guess that the drinks are comped by the casino. In that case, should I tip the servers as I would in a land casino that serves comped drinks? What do others do? To be clear, I am not trying to start a debate about tipping. I want to tip somewhere in the range of appropriately to generously, and I'm asking what is appropriate or expected in this situation. RichYak Posted December 19, 2022 #2 Share Posted December 19, 2022 I would tip them the same I would tip any other server that was bringing me drinks. If I didn’t have a drink package, I would tip them even more.
dreamer321 Posted December 19, 2022 #3 Share Posted December 19, 2022 At land based casinos that offer free cocktails to active players I always tip $1 or $2 to the cocktail waitress. I would do the same on the ship in the casino.

lifeisrealygood Posted December 19, 2022 #5 Share Posted December 19, 2022 My wife and I always have the premium drink package. We always will tip the bar servers who bring our drinks to the Black Jack table, for example. And I do not worry about carrying those one dollar bills around, as others have suggested. In the casino, I just give the servers a one dollar, or two one dollar chips, or a five dollar chip, depending on how things are rolling when my drink is being served. But I will always give them something in the casino. As far as other bartenders, we all seem to have our favorites onboard. I especially like it when the bartenders remember our drinks, and will say "the regular Mr or Mrs .......". that is a nice touch. Normally, these bartenders will always make sure that my white wine of choice is always available, another nice touch. I will give those bartenders, maybe two or three around the ship, a ten or twenty dollar bill a few times during the cruise. We normally cruise the S-Class, so we seem to always have a favorite bartender at the Passport Bar, at the Ensemble Bar, and in the Sky Lounge at night. Many times, even after we give our favorite bartender the money, they merely put it into a tip jar or box to be shared with his or her coworkers. Mike45LC Posted December 19, 2022 #6 Share Posted December 19, 2022 I find the cocktail waitresses in the ships’ casinos to be few and far between. So I tip $5, which insures they will be back and will check on my needs. Even if the drink package already has gratuities built in.

It's amazing how fast I can get a negroni in a crowd.
