Is there any shopping or restaurants to go to right off the boat or do you have to take a taxi to go anywhere?

Seraphine Port area has a variety Duty Free shops, jewellery stores and bars etc..  One bar is even dedicated to caring for those who have wish to shop, but their partners do.

The area across the bay contains a covered open market with stalls, plus various outlets and restaurants.

To the left of the open market, when looking from the ship, on the left corner of a road junction is the Supermarket.  It looks like an office block entrance.

But one must take a tour to see the real beauty of this wonderful island and it’s people.  There are tours and experiences for all tastes and ages.  Spend dollars to help the island.

Thanks for your reply. We have been to St. Lucia many times and took private tours. I was just looking to do something right off the ship this time. How would I get to the area across the bay?

There was a shuttle boat service, turn left off ship and keep walking towards the sea, but @reedprincess can advise is still running.

One can walk it.  About 15 minutes.  Out dock gates, straight ahead, turn right into a small shipyard, out the other side.  Keep walking, as you’ll see the covered market.  Can’t miss it.

Be prepared on the walk to be enthusiastically, but politely, encouraged to take a tour by many operators.  On the walk, under a small tree, there used to be a lady selling handmade dolls at very reasonable prices. But again Princees can give up to date information.

Anthem of the Seas will almost certainly dock at Pointe Seraphine - there's a large shopping area with all the typical port shops, couple eateries, bars, etc. Rum Therapy is fun if you're wanting to stay right on-site.

10-15 minutes walk out of port and along the road (turn right out of the port and right 9n the highway) to Castries Craft and Food Market - rated #3 food market in the world by NatGeo several years back. You can see it "across" the water, you don't actually cross the bay, it's easily walkable.

Take a left out of port on the highway and walk around the end of the airport to Vigie Beach or grab a cab for $10usd one way. About a 30 minute walk, long stretch of beach, smell Boardwalk with local eats and drinks, chairs, tons of shade, clean bathrooms..

There's a water taxi that plies between the two main docks, $5usd pp for 2-3 minutes ride to save a 15 or so minutes walk.. drops off at La Place Carnage, basically - more of the same typical port shops, etc but smack in town - not that's there's much at all to see in town as it's a gritty working city, not a scenic touristy town or village.

Enjoy.

Thank you for that information ... We will be in St Lucia in March with RCCL. We usually cruised with a group before Covid so looking for information. Our Roll Call is pretty quiet , not used to that, re: ports and excursions

How much should one expect to pay for a tour of the island, with no water sports or beach stop?

For a good private tour tour, with an excellent guide guide, work on $110 per hour.

What one wishes to see determines the length of tour.

But there are group tours with COSOL (the best)….https://www.cosol-tours.com

$250usd, give or take, for you to 3 persons (not per person or per hour). Extra people, extra cost.  Maybe a little more if you have a lot of stops or such...

It definitely won't cost $100+ an hour for a tour..

Wow….  I was overcharged….. 6 years ago I paid for a private group of 8 for just over 7.50 hours and charged $700…. So I calculated this as $700 for 7 hours = $100 per hour… then plus inflation of 10%

For the future, out of interest, for a party of 8, how much more pp ((above 3 pax for $250) would be charged.

We are traveling with my parents who booked a "Coastal Cruise to the Pitons" boat tour. Do others recommend this scenic tour or are there more interesting destinations we should consider in St. Luicia?

Little piece of information.

A cruise sold tour will be rammed, as the line will max out revenue.

If taking a Catamaran trip to the Pitons and wish to take the best set of photos.

On boarding don’t head for the front canvas, or placing one’s back against the wheelhouse, as most punters do, also pax spreading a towel to bag a bigger space.

Head for the stern and take the very comfortable soft seating there.
Reasons?

When approaching the Pitons the Catamaran’s punters will migrate like demented Lemmings to the very front, stand up, pointed elbows etc., with all those left behind pointing their cameras at the Pitons trying to remove the inclusion of people’s backsides.  Not a good set of photos.

But those at the stern just have to be patient, because the Catamaran steers a wide arc and turns, so those at stern will get the same camera time, but a better unobstructed set of shots.

Also being at the stern, this is where the food and drinks are served, everything close to hand.

On the “full sail” return trip,  a polite ask to the Skipper may allow each of your group to take a small turn at the helm, another souvenir photo opportunity.

Enjoy St Lucia….
