No Show

Looking for some experience. We booked a triple concierge cabin and it looks like one person may not be able to attend. We’re less than 30 days out so not worried about the refund. Travel agent is advising us that at this point easiest option is just to notify them at the port that one person will be a “no show” because if we do it in advance they may make us move to a double occupancy cabin and if they don’t have our type we could even get downgraded to an inside. I’m trying to avoid drama at the pier, has anyone ever done the “no show” option?

They aren't going to kick you out of the cabin you booked and paid for.

AFAIK the only cabins with an occupancy requirement are the Family Veranda cabins that aren't open to be booked by parties of fewer than 5 until close to the sailing date.

Just now, Jim_Iain said:

I think you Agent just doesn't want to deal with it.   No show is an option but as other say if you cancel the person you would be eligible to get Double CC Points, refund of port and tax fees etc.

There are still 2 people in the cabin - so no double points. The double would only apply if there were initially 2 people booked into the cabin so canceling 1 would leave 1. But there were 3 booked in, so canceling 1 would leave 2. Ergo no double points.

I have done a no show on a different cruise line and port taxes/fees were refunded after sailing. It really depends on what the NEW rate would be and how much your CX PENALTIES would be. Your TA is probably right, since she knows what your rates are booked as.  If the penalty is more than the refund... no show.
