I chuckled at the title The $2.00 Saga.   Then I read the thread.

Things you didn't know when you joined CC:  $2 bills are a hot topic.  Got it.

Funny, I keep reading this thread to see if I can figure out what the issue is 😃.  I never knew $2 bills were a problem

Just today when I tipped my room steward for ice I gave him 5.00.

Do they not bring ice on a daily/regular basis?

I know they're cutting back like crazy, but I'm assuming you can request this so you don't have to call for it every time.

I never call anyone.  When I see my guy I ask him for it.   I keep the ice in the cooler.    And don’t need it every day.   I ask when I need it.

just googled $2 bill superstitions, and  mostly in US, there is an association with gambling and prostitutes (both paid in $2 bills from 1900's).  Also two - deuce is a name for the devil - like "what the deuce" rather than "what the devil"     I tried to forward the short article to this page, but computer skills aren't my forte  😉

WOW.  I did google it, and I never heard of any of this before.  The things we learn on here......  And it must be serious because folks on this thread seem to have a real issue with $2 bills

Right?

Some of you all  have never traveled with Clemson fans on road games and it shows.

I ask my room steward to keep my ice bucket filled. I try to do that on day 1 when I meet him/her. I give him/her a tip at that time to kind of prime the pump. :)  However, I keep that between the steward and me. My dad taught me to be discreet about tipping and that's always worked for me.

I'm a train conductor and a few years back had a bunch of Clemson fans get on my train heading into Boston for dinner.  We got talking and after a while they handed me a $2 bill with the paw print.  Still have it even though I'm a Boston College fan.  .

Yep… can attest to that. We once rented our short term rental to some Clemson fans who were in town for a game. When I arrived to clean the place I saw that the guests had taped a $2 bill complete with paw print to our Alabama A that was on display on a shelf. They left a note explaining the significance. We left it there for posterity…

An issue actually in the United States is that because $2.00 bills weren’t common for the past five decades of modern cash registers, so there is no compartment in those registers for them. As prices rise, maybe the $1.00 bill will be replaced with the $2.00.

There’s no slot for a 100.00 bill either.  Ever watch a cashier put the 100 or a 50 under the cash drawer.   ????

Does that make somebody feel special?

Actually it does.   I give my waiters or waitresses one for extra good service after my meal and they usually enjoy getting them.   Some collect them.  Some give them to their kids to save.
And I always give them on top of my regular tip.
I have a 2.00 bill in my wallet that was given to me by a lady friend in the shape of a heart.    💜

and I thought it was a sweet gesture.

I carry $2 bills all the time I think I have eight of them in my wallet. I go to bank and pick up 100 bills at a time love using them for tips.

I also get them in 100 stacks from my bank.  They always save me the new bills.

Have never heard of any $2 bill superstitions but I do know in Vegas every year in Feb a few select casinos will sell you this book of $2 bills for Chinese New Year. I think they are great for tips and get a lot of good feedback when I use them

It was a joke.  This thread has gone from entertaining to just plain weird.

Yeah not all that uncommon, although admittedly I haven't seen a $2 since my waitressing days.

Now that I think about it, it'd make good tooth fairy cash. Add to the magic 🪄 since kids haven't seen $2 before.

Dang! Inflation has hit hard. I got a quarter for my teeth back in the day...late 80's/early 90's.
