Tonsoffun44 Posted January 22, 2023 #1 Share Posted January 22, 2023 Curious which night is typically Italian night theme menu in MDR - our Phone/app being weird so can't see menus - want to book specialty dining BEFORE WE BOARD but not book MDR Italian night and Sabatini's if it's the same night. Rare Rick&Jeannie Posted January 23, 2023 #2 Share Posted January 23, 2023 (edited) I don't think there is a "set" day for this...different ships may handle these types of schedules differently. You'll probably not get an answer until you are on board. Plus...it is reported that menus fleet-wide are about to change anyway. You don’t see the menus on the App until OB, and just the menu for that night. If it’s a 7 night, you can sort of guess the formal nights, but any other is anyone’s guess. Formal usually 1st sea day and any other sea day, but not first or last night. So, that leaves a few days to pick Italian night, usually it was on a Thursday night on our Eastern Caribbean b2b’s. You could go onto a current roll call, if your ship has a sailing right now, with your same itinerary, and ask. Or, just guess, book your SD and change once OB, if need be. Wishing on a star Posted January 23, 2023 #7 Share Posted January 23, 2023 Yes, it can depend on which ship, and who heads up the dining. From what I have seen here on the boards, the menu for the first night is changed up and does not look great to me. It is not generally the 'Prime Rib' menu, like it used to be. I have seen Italian on the second night. But, again, anybodies guess. Some of the things on the Italian night menu actually look pretty good. That is the night where you should see the Princess Fettucini Alfredo. Enjoy!
Wishing on a star Posted January 23, 2023 #8 Share Posted January 23, 2023 Ohhhh, and I forget, that if that second night is the first day at sea, it will likely be the first more formal night, and might not have the Italian menu for that. You can see the menus, at the dining rooms, for the current day and the next day only. Not the whole week/cruise.
Tonsoffun44 Posted February 7, 2023 Author #9 Share Posted February 7, 2023 OP - 4th night. Happened to be same night we had Sabatinis- only night we could get for time we wanted. Apparently made the right decision - many at table said selections were not great.

They don't necessarily maintain a particular order. Also, depends on length of voyage. Perhaps with a repetitive 7-night Caribbean sector cruise, you have better chance of consistent menu order. That said, those voyages often alternate between E & W Caribbean and therefore menu order may be different. You can always ask a DR Mgr on night one order of menus and adjust your SD res if desired.

We find that to be the case all the time on Italian night. We've learned to skip the DR & go to the buffet which has almost the same items plus many others to choose from. There would not be a link to a menu...only pictures that guests may have taken themselves. Plus...this could vary from ship to ship, itinerary to itinerary.
Rare startedwithamouse Posted February 7, 2023 #14 Share Posted February 7, 2023 Here's the Italian Night menu. As other comments have mentioned, it's not a set night, may change from voyage to voyage.

We always wander up to the buffet just to see what we missed even if we eat in the DR. I wish they could post somewhat of a menu at the buffet.
