JohnCoffield Posted January 26, 2023 #1 Share Posted January 26, 2023 Hello, we are on our first ever HAL cruise on March 11th (Noordam) & have Carnival shares & been told that the OBC will appear on our account when we board. Not having been with HAL before I guess I'm just looking for a bit of reassurance that this is how it actually works as with other cruise lines, such as P&O & Princess, we've been able to see see that the OBC has been applied to our account prior to sailing. Any comments/advice gladly welcomed. Thanks.
Rare Hlitner Posted January 26, 2023 #2 Share Posted January 26, 2023 Getting "shareholder credit" is not an automatic process. You need to apply for the benefit by submitting the required information, including proof of stock ownership (minimum of 100 shares of CCL). My advice is to apply a few months in advance and make sure to keep copies of your submission (and any response...if any). Take those copies along on your cruise just in case the OBC does not appear on your onboard credit. If the credit is not applied, you can than go to the Guest Relations desk with copies of your submission (including the proof of stock ownership) and they can usually get you your credit. Rare VMax1700 Posted January 26, 2023 #3 Share Posted January 26, 2023 Is the Wokingham in UK? Did you apply to Holland America UK for your shareholder's OBC? They usually send an email confirming the addition of the OBC and an updated Booking Confirmation. If you booked through a travel agent, then I would ask them to confirm in writing that the OBC has been added and ask for an updated Booking Confirmation.
Rare lyndarra Posted January 27, 2023 #4 Share Posted January 27, 2023 I installed the Navigator app sometime prior to boarding. After a day or two after boarding my OBC was not showing on my statement. I went to CS and they re-installed the app and all was good. In my case it was TA not shareholder OBC.
JohnCoffield Posted January 27, 2023 Author #5 Share Posted January 27, 2023 Thanks to all of your replies & most helpful. I'll print everything & take it with me just to be on the safe side. (Yes, Wokingham is near Reading & Windsor)

(Yes, Wokingham is near Reading & Windsor) You can also contact HAL about being identified as 1-star Mariners if you have previously sailed on any Carnival holdings line. The Mariner Society is HAL's frequent user benefits program...it goes 1 star up to 5 stars. They credit any other cruise in the CCL family towards you being a 1-star on your first HAL cruise versus no star on that first HAL cruise. 1-star doesn't get you many perks but it is something anyway (and you get a star on your cabin card).
