I saw in another forum that Gene passed away this week.  He had just left the Seascape for his vacation.  I know many on this board were very fond of him.  Very sad news.

I met him on Seaside and have seen him on TV specials/documentaries many times.

Here's a recent clip.....

Life is so precious…puts everything in perspective that’s for sure.
He was so young and full of life. Had the pleasure of meeting him on a HAL ship and was hoping to see him again on MSC.

Definitely not 79. I’d say late 40’s if that.
I hope it’s not him.

That article wasn’t about our Gene.  His family and fiancé have confirmed it as well as several MSC crew and staff.  Is such a sad and emotional time for those of us who knew and loved him.  My condolences to his friends and family.

OMG, what terrible news.  Gene was our favorite Cruise Director on any cruise line and the best on MSC by far.  He was so talented and so personable and had a way of making everyone feel welcome onboard.  What a tragedy to lose such a wonderful man who was right in the prime of his life.  Deepest condolences to his fiancee and family.  He will be missed by all.

Here is a photo of the last time we saw him on Seashore in February of 2022.

Heard from a friend that it is not him but someone aged 79. I know Gene was not that old.

Wrong Gene Young. The man who passed away was 85.

Sadly it has been confirmed by ship officers, his family and here:

It’s hard to imagine someone who was so full of life and smiling every time we saw him could be suffering from depression.

What a tragic ending to such a vibrant soul. Praying for him and his family and friends.

Absolutely heartbreaking
