Really, no way of knowing. Generally it's thought that springtime TAs are milder weather than fall ones. We did our first TA in September/Oct (hurricane season) and the ocean was like glass, beautiful and sunny. Our second was in May, and we were on a rollercoaster for 6 days.
shipgeeks Posted March 1, 2023 #3 Share Posted March 1, 2023 We have done the April TAs three times. In all three, the seas were mostly calm and the sky sunny, but most of the time it felt quite chilly out on deck, due to the wind created by the movement of the ship. I frequently wore three light layers out on deck. In the Med, we had everything from warm and sunny to chilly and damp.
evandbob Posted March 1, 2023 #4 Share Posted March 1, 2023 We did a southern TA east bound from FL to Barcelona and we had flat calm seas for 5 days. However, the 6 time changes along the way made me woozy. If we ever do another TA or TP, it will be westbound. BTW, there were interminable patches of seaweed throughout the ocean passage. We've done two spring TAs. The first went from San Jose over to the Azores and the seas were extremely rough with 25+ foot seas for three full days. About half the crew members and staff were sick. It was bad. Once we got past the Azores, it was fine. The other TA was from Fort Lauderdale, then south through the Caribbean and straight over to Southampton. Seas were lovely and calm except in the Bay of Biscay when it was quite rough but still very sunny. Be prepared for anything!
