Hello we are cruising with Princess for the first time , New York to New England and Canada round trip.

Our TA has booked us a princess transfer on disembarking however it doesnt say which area of NY we will be docked in does anyone know?

Also our flight isnt until 7pm so what  time do you need to be out of your cabins ? Emerald Princess ship ? and what  sort of time could we expect our Transfer ?

Im a bit concerned we will be stuck in the Airport from Early morning so if this could be the scenario im looking at hopefully booking a Day hotel room at Newark Airport has anyone done this before?

You will need to be off the ship by 8 or 9 am.  The transfer will take you to the airport.  They might have a different transfer you can buy which will include a sightseeing tour before you are dropped at the airport.  We have a similar situation.  We chose to just book a hotel for the night and take a morning flight home.  The morning flight was half the price of the evening flight which more than covered the cost of the hotel.

They are called disembarkation tours and are offered by Princess.  If you go this route, make sure to have your TA cancel your transfers and have funds refunded to you or have the funds transferred to the cost of the disembarkation tour.  The price of the tour is inclusive of the transfer.  Make sure you to select the correct drop off airport, in your case EWR, not JFK.  This tour will take you around Manhattan and drop you off at your selected airport at the end.  Your luggage will be stored in the luggage hold of the motor coach.

thanks for replies We dont really fancy the tour as you need to bo ready at 7.30am and ive been to New York and already seen where the tour is going so might look at hotel options if we are going to be transferred really early, changing the flight time isnt an option

We did the Canada/New England trip back in September on the Enchanted. You will definitely be sailing out of Red Hook, AKA the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal.  You won't be sailing out of the much more convenient Manhattan Cruise Terminal.

They want everyone out of their cabins by around 8AM, and off the ship by 9ish

In 2018, we took the Princess transfer from the port to the airport (Newark) and it was fine. We also had a late afternoon flight and it seemed like a FOREVER wait. You will be able to sign up for your disembarking time, indicating that you are on a Princess transfer. You will need to indicate your flight time.

Our TA seems to think we dont get to choose a time its when Princess wants us off and possibly between 9-10am

A day or two before leaving the ship, you will get a form, complete it, and your steward will turn it in. You will have luggage tags. 10:00 am seems a bit late, but you will be able to find your "category" on the sheet and will select that you are on a Princess transfer. There may or not be more than one time selection.

On the Enchanted Princess out of Brooklyn last September, the Disembarkation Groups sheet we received a few days before arrival showed 10 different "Princess Transfers" disembarkation times available. Six were for LGA with times between 7:30AM and 9:20AM, two were for EWR, at 7:55 and 9:05, and two were for JFK, at 8:05 and 9:15. These are disembarkation times though, and not necessarily the departure times of the shuttles to the specific airport.

The ship will be docked at Red Hook cruise terminal in Brooklyn. You have to be out of your cabin by 8am. Princess transfer to Newark airport will probably depart around 9:30 or so. The bus ride is around 45 mins. Yes, if you take the transfer to the airport you will be stuck there from late morning until your 7pm flight. Here are some suggestions

Take a disembarkation tour which will tour Manhattan and then drop you at the airport.

Unless you are in 1st class where you can sleep, you will be extremely tired by the time you arrive back in the UK with the overnight red eye flight. Maybe you can change to a next day morning flight which arrives in the UK early evening, and stay overnight at a hotel at or near the airport.  International flights depart from both Newark Liberty Airport and JFK Airport.
