I know I can't use a power strip with a surge protector, but my universal travel adapter has surge protection. Does this mean I can't use it? Thanks!

Surge protection is surge protection no matter what is the device.

Not all adapters have surge protection. We never use “fancy” adapters but instead by the very simple ones and make sure our devices are compatible. Items like hair straighteners in particular make sure they are dual voltage depending where you are using them in the world.

While they don't SAY "no surge protector", the safety features mentioned are physical construction (copper wire! not flammable!), and so it is said by not saying, no surge protection. So yes, they are fine. I bought one each for my family's cabins (only I think they were beige) on a group cruise to AK.
