Premier Pass package

So we still have the premier package showing in our order history, still have the key on set sail pass, our credit card was charged, and we were given and used $50 OBC. Anyone think there’s a chance it won’t get canceled? If that’s the case would they have to honor it? We leave in one month.

Not sure why you're all surprised that the credit card charges have been processed and go to actual payments. They wouldn't be able to stop them given the amount of time that had passed since the original transactions had been processed.

I’m not surprised that I was charged but several people who purchased at the same time that I did still have “pending” charges and several show the package canceled on their cruise planner. Speculation was that it was possibly canceled in order of cruise but that doesn't seem to be the case.

I've gotten my $50 OBC but the purchase still remains.  It does give me the option to cancel the Premier Pass but I don't want to lose the OBC.  I can I can be patient and just wait for them to cancel it themselves.

I got this email yesterday:

Dear Guest,

We understand you previously booked products like, VOOM Wi-Fi, the All Access Tour, or The Key and then cancelled them based on your purchase of the non-existent Premier Pass.

Some of these items may have gone up in price since you originally purchased, and we understand that your cancellation was in good faith, based on the erroneous package.

We want to honor your original price.

  • If you already rebooked - there is nothing to do. We will calculate the difference between what you currently have and your original purchase price - and generate a refund for the difference, IF the NEW cost is greater than what you originally paid.
  • If you have not already done so, you can repurchase the exact products at the current rate by March 22, 2023. At that time, we will close this process and automatically provide you with a refund for the difference, IF the NEW cost is greater than what you originally paid.

As a reference, below, we included an overview of the original purchase and the price you paid.

Refunds may take up to 14 business days to reflect on the form of payment used for the re-purchase. Please note some financial institutions may take a little longer.

We appreciate your continued understanding as we work through this and look forward to having you onboard soon!

Sincerely,

Aurora Yera-Rodriguez

That’s exactly Eva’ why I haven’t canceled as well. I don’t want to make an even bigger mess but since we are sailing very soon I thought we would be the first canceled.

Certainly those that used precruise OBC to pay for the Premier Package should have that OBC refunded to their accounts before their cruises, so it makes sense to prioritize those cruising soon who paid with OBC. The goodwill OBC also needed to be in those accounts.  On the other hand, credits for the refunds for those that paid by credit card can be processed like all the others.

So, I'd bought two packages.   We have two rooms with DH in one and Me in the other.  It shows only $50 OBC, but then it still shows the pass.

They said 14 days for refunds.  It has only been a few days now.

I found the process quite easy to convert refundable OBC by going to GS and cash in any unused balances.  Use this money for any additional OBC to those deserving.

@nelblu - you were able to convert your OBC to cash through Guest Services? I have always read that you can only do it in the casino. Did they charge you a fee?

I believe this is only if your OBC is refundable, like the type of OBC that travel agency typically gives out. However, the type of OBC that RCL is giving us is non-refundable, I don't think one can cash it out from GS.

Yes, at GS and no fees.  I've had many OBC from TAs and on the last night if I know that I won't be using the balance I cash it in as it's a refundable OBC.  Not sure if Casino will cash it in for you.

Yes, I've previously explained that it applies to refundable OBCs and the ones issued by Royal are usually not.

If OBC is refundable, they will just credit you the balance to your credit card after sailing ends so no need to get from guest services unless you want cash.  Just make sure it's refundable though!

I've had like $300 left over as refundable (from travel agent) and got a nice refund on my CC.

I think it says the type of OBC on the app and the TV bill on board.  If you have both types it'll use the non refundable first when you charge things.

Do you have 2 reservation numbers? I booked 3 packages for 3 different reservations/cabins, the OBC was given to each reservation number/cabin.  A nice treat for our guests

I used OBC to purchase this, today I decided to try and just cancel it and see what happened... well the OBC was credited back instantly. Like as soon as I canceled, I refreshed and the OBC was on top of the page again, along with the 50 they gave earlier in the week. So if you are tired of waiting for them to do it, just go ahead and cancel and you'll get the original OBC right away

That only works if you bought with OBC already in the planner. If you bought with a credit card and you cancel, it will take a while for that refund. Getting an instant refund when you bought with planner OBC is normal.

It was in one order.   I'm in one cabin with a teen and DH is in another cabin with a teen.  I had just selected both of us when I placed the order.   Although, someone mentioned that the $50 shows up per cabin so maybe I got two $50 OBC's and they just look the same.   I'll have to spend one and see if the other stays.

Did you check both bookings to see that each has the $50 OBC.  I purchased 3 packages for 3 cabins and each cabin/booking # reflects the OBC.

I hope that you are right, but I am nervous that they might take the $50 OBC away in that case...
