Mrs f. Posted March 16, 2023 #2 Share Posted March 16, 2023 (edited) You might want to check rollcall to see if there is an existing rollcall for this cruise....if not start one. Edited March 16, 2023 by Mrs f. Spelling

Would appreciate any comments about ports of call and shore excursions. I am not on this cruise, but have been to all these ports. So a quick overview of what appears popular. Sydney: Spend a few days there. Many interesting spots around the harbour. Use the ferries. Napier: Many art deco buildings. Easy DIY. Wine tour....but check as some wineries may have suffered recent Cyclone damage. Tauranga: Most popular is Rotorua for Maori culture; or to Hobbiton. Docked at Mount Maunganui a lovely seaside town (Harbour side & Surf side.) Hence a walk off and easy DIY. If you wish you can climb the Mount or walk around the base to end up at the surfside. Auckland: Parked downtown so easy DIY. Bay of Islands: Tour to 'Hole in the Rock' If DIY; tender to Waitangi, walk or shuttle to Paihia, ferry to Russell, walk up to Flagstaff lookout, lunch at 'Duke of Marlborough' over looking the bay, ferry back to Paihia, visit Treaty House at Waitangi, tender back to ship. Lautoka: Take a tour somewhere. Suva: Take a tour. If DIY. Parked downtown, wander the sights, have a drink on the veranda of the Grand Pacific Hotel. Apia: Walkable to town. Tour to the South side of the Island. Visit Robert Louis Stevenson House. Pago Pago: Tour to the East side or the West side of the Island. Tour to the National Park. Jump on a local bus to look around the coastline. Bora Bora: Water activities such as snorkelling, swimming with the stingrays, lunch on a motu. Raiatea: Snorkelling (perhaps over at Taha'a) Walk up the large hill behind the town to the right. Great views down onto the fringing reefs. Island tour. Moorea: Similar water activities to Bora Bora, or an Island tour. Papeete: Take a tour to the highlights of the Island. Hopefully someone onboard will reply when they are able; but the info above is a basic overview. PS: May also be worth checking out the roll calls for this year's Papeete - Papeete cruises, as they may be posting about tours. cruiseaholic78 Posted March 17, 2023 #9 Share Posted March 17, 2023 For anyone staying longer or wanting a serviced apartment we used the Meriton suites Sussex street, join and you get a discount. After more than a week traveling before embarkation we were glad to be able to use our washer an dryer and take clean clothes on our cruise. Also recommend Andersons for Blue mountains trip pre cruise. Happy planning Rosalyn

Rare pinotlover Posted March 22, 2023 #17 Share Posted March 22, 2023 Temperatures swing dramatically on the ships. On some days the restaurants can be pleasant, while on other days it’s cool even wearing a tshirt, long sleeveless, and a sports jacket. My DW always carries a sweater to dinner. Her exposed toes have come out of venues nearly blue ! 🥺 Unless you’re from Minnesota and like trampling around the woods in January in shorts and a T-shirt, I recommend you take either the jacket or a nice sweater for comfort sake. 1
roberts2005 Posted March 24, 2023 Author #18 Share Posted March 24, 2023 Next years shore excursions are now online. Again, for the people onboard, any you would highly recommend. Other than New Zealand this is a brand new area for me. Appreciate any help.
