Both incredibly popular still. I wish Celebrity had a version of Million Dollar Quartet!!!!

I guess my simplest comparison would be the Edge Class is like a high class hotel/resort while the Allure was more like a hotel attached to an amusement park. agree based on a cruise on Oasis to try out that class ship. Much better fit for us on EDGE and BEYOND...Total experience was better on X... food and service better on X..shows and music better..just overall classier. No tix needed or lines for shows or events! Oasis catered much more to family, kid and teen activities.. with.parades carousels, zip line, flo rider etc altho X kids program seems quite good...stem and ocean based! When I am on vacation I do not want to follow a schedule unlike my normal daily routine. However, as others have said the kids love the RCI ships. Then I strongly recommend that you never go visit Walt Disney World. Edited March 26, 2023 by t18c97
Treasure Hunter Posted March 26, 2023 #29 Share Posted March 26, 2023 Just got off the Edge and the Royal suite has the worst balcony. With Kids we go Royal ( or NCL Haven) but without kids we go Celebrity ( or Princess to Alaska or Hawaii). They pulled Cats because people kept walking out. They pulled Kinky Boots on NCL for the same reason. Entertainment and Casino is better on RCCL. Food, Service and all around luxury better on Celebrity. For great food and better Itinerary ( very port intensive) go Oceania.

That’s just one of the many reasons you will never see me in Disney again. Disagree on casino much rather gamble in the smoke free celebrity casino, if you love smoke filled casino go rccl. Speaking of suites celebrity perks are way better than rccl , do agree some upscale edge class balconies have balconies where you can’t get sun , we did penthouse on edge , but rccl has no dedicated swimming pools for suite guests like edge or any outdoor area .

Treasure Hunter Posted March 26, 2023 #32 Share Posted March 26, 2023 Yes, I prefer a smokeless Casino too but I also like to win ( at least a little). Last four Celebrity cruises, the casino ( and I book through the casino) were terribly tight. At least on NCL and RCCL you get a little play before they take away your money. Yes the Retreat is very nice but Luminae on the Edge is only OK. With the Royal suite on Celebrity we did eat at all the specialty resturants for dinner and that was absolutely great. I like shade so the lack of shade is a problem in the retreat.

You can only see so many magic acts, singing acts before you get bored. Royal definitely has better entertainment though.

We just came off a M class a few days ago in royal suite, had 2 dinners in Le Petit Chef and two in Tuscan , loved Chef ,Tuscan wasn’t that good , had 4 or 5 lunches in Sushi on 5 loved those , rarely drank in suite so brought home our free liters on Hennessy cognac and Macallen quest single malt scotch. Love lobster roll on embarkation day lunch in Luminae.

ConnMom Posted March 29, 2023 #36 Share Posted March 29, 2023 We have sailed on Apex and Edge as well as Allure and Harmony, and have enjoyed all of them, although we generally are Celebrity cruisers. I agree with many of the above comments, but will add a couple differences that have not been addressed. On the Edge class ships, we love the 4 small main dining rooms, and their restaurant-specific menus, as well as the entertainment and the casual lunch offerings in Eden. On the other hand, Central Park on the Oasis ships is one of my favorite locations on any cruise line; it is quiet, atmospheric and peaceful at all times, and has musical entertainment in the evenings that we enjoy- think string trios and classical acoustic guitarists. Central Park also has a complimentary deli type restaurant for breakfast and lunch that is a great alternative to the buffet. Additionally, the Oasis ships have a broader range of entertainment offerings, and our favorite evening entertainment is Royal's popular piano bar, something I wish Celebrity would offer. They are all lovely ships. My husband and I know we will find something we look forward to on any of the Edge or Oasis class ships.
hvsteve1 Posted March 29, 2023 #37 Share Posted March 29, 2023 Something people never seem to figure is the space ratio for passengers. I think space per passenger on Edge class is probably at least a third more than Oasis class. In other words, you will feel less crowded. This space ratio probably goes up with the quality level of the cruise line (along with fare). We recently were on Regent Seven Seas Splendor and sometimes wondered if we were the only people on the ship. Our next cruise is our second on the Edge where I found that, at certain times of the day, there were areas I had almost to myself.
