We're booked on the Eurodam to Alaska May 6, 2023. First time on HAL, first cruise to Alaska, and first time in an aft cabin. Looking forward to spectacular views from the cabin, wondering if motion is an issue back there. Sounds like layered clothing is a must, as well as a water resistant jacket. Would love to hear thoughts from others who have done this trip. Thanks!

Kudos on your choice of an aft stateroom and the great photo ops, especially in Glacier Bay. As a hobby photographer, 90% of my cruises are in aft staterooms where you can see both sides of the ship, little foot traffic, short elevator ride up to the Lido Market for snacks, hot Room Service food with the kitchen just 4 minutes away, and no wind on your balcony.  May is the lowest rain month for the Alaska tourist season and my favorite month to visit Alaska. Bring a backpack for your removed layers as the day warms, also a poncho to keep your camera dry unless it will fit in your jacket pocket..

I strongly recommend the ship unlimited laundry to save luggage and always have fresh clothing.  The order list and laundry bag will be hanging in your stateroom closet.

Exposure to the Pacific Ocean,  until you reach the calm waters of the Inside Passage mentioned above, can be rough.  Bring seabands and meds for this portion.

Feel free to ask lots of questions here on CC to help in your planning,

Hi folks... This is Jimmy and Maggie Kothari, your fellow Eurodam cruisers on May 6th...We're super excited to join you all, along with our two daughters and Son-in-law.  We will celebrate our 40th marriage anniversary on this very day, the 6th May.

Appreciate all the pertinent info from seasoned cruisers. This is our 4th cruise, first on HAL, first one to Alaska. Looking forward to meeting others on this exciting sailing. And the countdown is on......

Congrats on snagging an aft cabin - they're by far our favorite for AK. As mentioned, you can see both sides and we always get a whale (and sometimes dolphin) show while on our balcony. One of the best memories (and stories) was watching a mama bear with her 3 cubs walking/playing the beach. They stayed in sight for more than 30 min - it was fabulous!!

Make sure you have binoculars and don't let the drizzle, fog, wind or even rain keep you inside - the amazing views are best enjoyed fom your balcony. And the glacier cruising is great - no crowds to block your view.

We will be getting off when you get on - we leave this Sat April 29 on Eurodam. First time to not be in an aft cabin - a bit jealous. 🙂
