Just sailed MG last week, surprise, table minimums are now $15. Was on MG 2 months ago, they were $10, which I wasn't even expecting that. Anyway, is this fleet wide or just the bigger ships? I still played and had fun. Carnival is definitely implementing it's plan on recouping some lost revenue. I'm afraid to book another cruise on her too soon, with my luck.

Hopefully just a ship-by-ship thing...I won't play near as much with $15 minimums...

Some months ago folks reported $10 minimums on their cruises but there were still $6 minimum tables on my Sunshine cruise around the same time. Maybe Carnival is trying to test these things on a ship-by-ship basis. I know just before the shutdown, the Sunshine's roulette table had a 000 position but tha went away during the restart.

All these price hikes and cuts in quality, Carnival is really challenging the notion of cruising being the best value vacation.

Damn even $10 is a shock to me..every CCL cruise I’ve been on has had $5 “carny” games and $6 “super unfun 21”

STRANGELY though; when I looked at the computer (while I was playing UTH) I noticed that the COMPUTER has the minimums all at $10-$50 (instead of $5-$25) so basically if you were playing stone cold minimum of $5 you were actually getting a better comp rate. (However we played at $25, and they still rated us for the $10 computer minimum haha)

Isn't the casino contracted out?  Does CCL get any per bet revenue?

Thanks.

almost everything onboard the ship is contracted out. shops, spa, art gallery, etc, etc

the fun 21 and lucky ladies is now $10 because they have a new bonus table and the bonus minimum is $5. So you can bet $5 on each like you used to do $5 on BJ slot and $1 bonus.   All the bonuses on Mardis gras have either a $5 or $10 option.  It really adds up on the carne games but you will be kicking yourself if you hit simething and not betting it!

The casino has to pay for all the discounted cabins they give away somehow.

You have it backwards. Their making more money now, so they can afford to give away more discounted cabins.

They're not making any money, in fact losing, according to the latest numbers and still have over $30 billion in debt.

Carnival needs to be more discriminating in who gets free/discounted cabins and increase onboard spend.

I understand their debt issue. I'm just saying they are positioning themselves to start making some of that money back. I'm sure the casino will help them immensely with these recent increases, and I expect more are coming. I expect we won't see the old days of $5 tables much longer, if there are even any still out there. The casino is doing their part in helping get that money back. And they can still offer discounted rooms to entice gamblers to spend even more, I know I for sure did my part.

The casino offers certainly helped get the cash flow going when cruising restarted and the casinos are  part of continuing operations, but optimization won't hurt. Carnival needs to consider all areas for cost containment. The Wild West is over.

$15 minimum for craps should be criminal.

Basic slow roll strategy has you betting $81. $15 come out, $30 odds, $18 each on 6&8. Add 5&9 and you're over $100. Unreal and not fun to play.

May as well just stand there chucking greens on horn bets.

I was playing mostly craps which was always $15. I played BJ one day and it was also $15. I didn't pay close attention to any of the other tables.

Not happy to hear it was that on the Craps table.  That's mostly what I like to play but sure won't be playing much if at all with $15 min.

for craps ss it $15 per bet or is it $15 total bet?

For most bets, it’s $15 minimum (pass line, place, etc). But I believe you need to have  total of $15 to bet. Meaning, can’t just throw out a $1 hard 8 and that’s it.

I see you’re a roulette player..roulette is literally the only table game with odd rules like that.

every other game, if you make a bet anywhere it’s gotta be the table minimum (sans “bonus” bets, those usually are only $1)

Right, but there are quite a few $1 bets at a crap table so if you don’t make a single $15 bet, they are going to make you bet a total of $15.
