And WiFi calling uses very little bandwidth. People doom scrolling TikTok or streaming sports is what’s eating bandwidth.
klfrodo Posted April 16, 2023 #7 Share Posted April 16, 2023 (edited) Try calling using WhatsApp. It’s a different protocol than regular wifi calling. Edited April 16, 2023 by klfrodo

My social media is limited to LinkedIn (and YouTube, if you count it,) at the moment. WhatsApp is not social media. Think of it as an alternative to texting/wifi calling. In fact, on some carriers (T-Mobile for example) you can't text with the normal wifi package...but you can send texts via WhatsApp. The *only* drawback is that whoever you talk to needs to have it also, but it's free, so not that big of a deal... LOL, not sure what list you looked at, but it is a communications app - texting and calling...absolutely nothing to do with social media. Perhaps wherever you looked erroneously tagged it as social media because it's owned by Facebook... Edited April 16, 2023 by alyssamma

Gregoryfo Posted April 17, 2023 #14 Share Posted April 17, 2023 I use google voice to make wifi calls (and text) on every cruise I take to communicate with home, works well. I have no idea if you can set it up at sea though.
