attran99 Posted April 23, 2023 #1 Share Posted April 23, 2023 Going to spend some time in Key West following a cruise. Does anyone have any recommendations on where we can stay? A beachfront resort is nice, but not necessary. We do enjoy modernized hotels with great service. Thanks!
CruiserBruce Posted April 23, 2023 #2 Share Posted April 23, 2023 There is a Waldorf Astoria there, a beach resort.

Flymia Posted April 27, 2023 #4 Share Posted April 27, 2023 There are not really beaches in Key West. From my experience you have three types of hotels. The up scale but small resort, mid-scale larger resort that is usually not in the most walkable central area of the island, though Key West is very small. Or a small bed and breakfast type place with a small pool right in the middle of Key West. Last time I was there we stayed at the 24 North Hotel. It was good, had a shuttle to downtown, and nice pool. We drove down, so having a car made some things easy as rideshare was very expensive. tscoffey Posted April 27, 2023 #5 Share Posted April 27, 2023 The beaches are very rocky, unless you know someone in the military and can get onto one of the Key West Naval Air Station bases (our daughter was USAF). They have some nicer, sandy beaches. There are many, many B&B places with pools. We stayed at one called Azul Key West on Truman, for about $300 per night around Memorial Day. mspink98 Posted April 28, 2023 #6 Share Posted April 28, 2023 As others have said beaches in Key West (and most of the Keys) are not what people usually think of when they think "beach". I'd take that out of your equation completely. KW will have any type of accommodation imaginable, depending on what your party looks like and what you want to do. If you're adults who want nightlife, stay close to Duval St, especially the western end. If you've got kids or just prefer something more sedate, look for something off Duval and further east, IMO. spammie Posted April 28, 2023 #7 Share Posted April 28, 2023 We have stayed at both the Pier House and the Hyatt Key Centric. Both are right in the heart of Duval Street. Post covid prices are through the roof! Both great resorts though!
Rothko1 Posted April 28, 2023 #8 Share Posted April 28, 2023 It's not in Key West, but Little Palm Island is very nice.

Casa Marina and The Reach are no longer Waldorf Astoria resorts - they're now part of the Curio Collection. I always liked Casa Marina but we usually stay closer to Duval Street.
Rare horseymike Posted April 30, 2023 #10 Share Posted April 30, 2023 There is a courtyard Marriott in Marathon that is very nice , a bit of a drive from key west , but great location if you want access to most of the keys. Also a lower price than most places in Key West. Just a thought.
