Joyefulcrusier Posted April 24, 2023 #1 Share Posted April 24, 2023 We will be in Bonaire from 7:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Is this enough time to do the north and south loop on the golf carts? Thanks for any information. Joye

SueMo Posted April 24, 2023 #3 Share Posted April 24, 2023 Yes. However, if short on time I suggest you do the south loop and then just up to the 1000 steps on the north loop. Parts of the north loop are one way only, so pay attention to the instructions and map they give you when you rent your golf cart.

We plan on being off the ship as soon as possible so we can get an early start. DH is not worried about the time, but I am a worrier and am concerned.

Good advice… On another note, the Bonaire Cruiser folks are easy to deal with.

We had four couples on four carts organized via the roll call. Debbie from Bonaire Cruisers greeted us at the tent and escorted us to the office. On the south loop we made many photo stops along the way and stopped at a beach bar for drinks. By the time we reached the 1000 steps on the north loop most of us were hot, hungry, and tired. Had we not been so tired, it might have been nice to cruise along the waterfront in town before heading back to the Bonaire Cruisers office. It was a great day regardless. Enjoy your time on Bonaire. And bring plenty of water from the ship.
Purplsmurf Posted April 24, 2023 #10 Share Posted April 24, 2023 Yes! We have done it. You will have plenty of time to do both routes. Enjoy!
RichYak Posted April 24, 2023 #11 Share Posted April 24, 2023 You will pass very near to Bonaire Cruisers after completing the south loop before starting the north loop. You can decide at that time how far to proceed. IIRC once you pass the 1000 steps on the north loop, you are committed to completing it due to one-way roads. The 1000 steps is your last opportunity to turn around and head back to town. All this to say, you will have many options in real time, so no need to be concerned about time. chimchimtx Posted April 24, 2023 #12 Share Posted April 24, 2023 I suggest you get off early and pick up your cart as soon as possible if you are attempting to do both loops. They are very popular and we had long lines waiting to check in. Their process is not very streamlined and they are not in any kind of hurry. Island time I guess. They are super nice but the only person who moved fast was the kid who blurted out all the cart/driving instructions in less than 30 seconds. We had a reserved cart and it still took about 30 minutes to get ours. They do not have separate lines for reservations so we had to wait behind multiple people who came up asking general rental information while they decided whether or not to proceed with a rental. Ozzmund Posted April 24, 2023 #15 Share Posted April 24, 2023 Like the other posters, we really enjoyed Bonaire Cruisers. We did the South Loop and the North as far as 1000 steps. This allowed us to have a more leisurely experience. We too did some snorkeling and had a beach bar stop. As mentioned previously, bring plenty of water and sunscreen. flowers44 Posted April 26, 2023 #17 Share Posted April 26, 2023 Does Bonaire Cruisers have snorkel equipment to rent? We want to stop at a few beaches and snorkel but don't want to buy the equipment and haul it along with us form home. Or are there places on Bonaire who rent the equipment? I have been to the ABC Islands one other time. My Cruise Partner has not been there. I know it is going to be very warm there in August. I have a golf cart reserved but have been looking at car rentals too. The Golf Carts sound like fun but using one might be really warm. I am thinking the rental car would have AC and we would be out of the sun while we traveled. Still, the Golf Carts sound like a fun way to travel. I just got a message on Facebook back from Bonaire Cruisers. I asked them if they rented snorkel gear and they do. It is $5 for a mask and snorkel tube. Not bad. I understand that the snorkeling on Bonaire is rated once of the best places in the Caribbean. My Cruise Partner has never done it and I have done it once in Hawaii so we are going to give it a try on Aruba with a shore excursion so we get some instruction and then on our own in Bonaire with a drive around the island.
