I see you said you were allowed to bring whiskey on board is that normal for Carnival. My husband loves whiskey and would bring it if it was allowed. Thanks DeeDee That might have been in a European port, not permitted sailing from USA. EM

I had read on cruisecritic and elsewhere that many Carnival ships allow cruisers to bring alcohol on board in Europe. I tried it and it worked. I also noticed there was no table/station with Carnival crew ready to take alcohol from people - you just went through the detector and to the elevators with no other Carnival crew after going through the detector. Of course, my experience doesn't make me an expert on it, but it adds to the number of people who say they were successful, unlike with US ports. Good luck! Also FYI, I didn't visit any of the specialty bars, but in the casino we could call for Woodford Reserve or Buffalo Trace (sorry, don't know about scotch). 2

We may or may it take out chances. My husband loves Woodford Reserve too.

Did they serve you from carts? Love dimsum!! Glad you escaped CC jail😉 No carts but the dim sum was great. The vegetable spring rolls were amazing for crispness and flavor. Both the crystal shrimp dumplings and the pan-fried pork dumplings were sooo much better than what we have in DC. That said, this (Shanghai 21) was not my intended dim sum target, but my emergency plan B - when I arrived at Ping's the doors were locked and a renovation sign promised no reopening date. Ping's does serve via roaming carts and is an event all in itself with the roaming servers sometime not speaking English. As authentic and delicious as a dim sum experience can be, I think (I've been to China and Hong Kong twice). There's also an awesome dim sum place in Hell's Kitchen, near the Theater District - walking distance from the Cruise Terminal. We went up an escalator to a large room with carts pushed by mostly women not speaking much English. It was very tasty! Here in Charlotte, NC that is one cuisine I miss!

Sounds like Ping's except I've always accessed Ping's by walking up the narrow, steep steps. Never saw an escalator.
