I remember you posting the above and it could not have been nice locked away due to Covid.

Not sure what you expected P&O to do other than isolate you from others and I really do get

what it was like being locked up due to my HF . I never saw any of my family, our grandkids ,

kids relatives ,no one for over 10 months ! No one just the wife and the medics via phone .

Your good wife being accosted by drunks is not nice and fair play to you letting her sort it .

I recall Mega B  saying she had it happen to her . Jane had it happen on MSC to her

granddaughter, so it's not just one cruise line . .I used to tour working men's clubs and

it happens everywhere coastal holiday parks etc .

We all dust ourselves down and move on and in some cases avoid certain places, just like

your doing .

Hope you and your Mrs have great happy holidays wherever you choose and hope you

too get to move on.

DW was accosted by a drunk bloke. We got married I'm 1973. She forgave me eventually. 🤣

Thank you.My problem was not being locked away but the lies we were told. The medical dept. said there was no covid generally on the ship. Two days later the Capt. asked everyone to wear masks as there was a covid outbreak. We had heard many coughing and spluttering on the ship before we were isolated but no-one was asked to wear masks and some did not report the covid to the medical team. Our mistake was being honest!. Anyway, we have moved on and have great hols actually much cheaper. Thanks again for your kind words.. Pete.

Well. the last two cruises, Iona and Britannia wer a disaster for us. On Britannia we had covid and were shut in our cabin for 6 days missins all but one of the ports we wanted to visit. We were lied to by crew and the medical staff.

It's unfair and wrong to blame P&O for something beyond their control. It's not their fault you missed the ports and you could have gotten it anywhere and could have even taken it on-board yourself. P&O can only go off what is reported so if as you say people don't report things how can they be lying. Most of the crew won't know statistics about it. Things evolve quickly and what is true one day could be different the next.

What happened to your wife must have been horrible but could happen anywhere, well done to her for how she coped with it. I hope she has gotten over it. Again though not P&O's fault.

I am not one of the so called followers and you only have to look at the number of times something has been read to know that there's a lot more people on here.

Sorry but much of it ceretainly WAS P&Os fault. Firstly they did not enforce the waering of masks either on the coach down or on Embarkation. The infectious period of c...d meant we caught it either on the coach or at embarkation. The medical people told us there was not covid on the ship whereas the cabin next to us were isolated as was the cabin above and people we spoke to later said many had it The Capt came on after we were told 'no covid' and asked eveyone to wear masks as there was an outbreak!. As to the drunk episode, despite complaining about the harassment P&O did nothing and the same people were in the casino drinking heavily every night.. I am sorry to keep bringing it up but people do not seem to believe it.

Also, I have noticed people coughing on ships many times.  It doesn't mean they have Covid, might just be the aircon.

Sorry Jean but these were people who were coughing on deck, on the buses and all over It was definately covid.

..and they admitted it after.

Jean, I think the last time you cruised was pre covid. Forgive me if I'm wrong.

When did this take place? I didn’t think that people tested for covid now.

We did a test before we flew to Malta to join Azura. That was just in case the rules changed at short notice. We normally take a couple of tests with us, just in case. I don't know what we would do if one was positive.

Well if people were coughing for a myriad of reasons pre covid, then post covid they are still coughing for a myriad of reasons plus covid as an extra!

Absolutely. Don't hear much about it now anyway.

I was on Arvia this year K306  and noticed that during  the afternoon on the sea days strange things happend to the air condition in the cabin.

The warm air stopped and cold air containing some unidentified gas came out for a period of approximately 20 mins-What was going on ?

Later that day in the corridor a man with a gas bottle and applicator was going the full length of the ship squirting the same unidentified gas....

I am happy to say I am still alive and well question is what was going on...

The Mrs tested herself once back from our recent holiday as she had took ill for a few days .

Glad to say she was negative result. She still has not got her sense of smell back yet but

there is some nasty bugs knocking about and they are nothing to do with the C .

My only gripe is some people never learn and selfishly just let their sneezes rip as we saw at least twice whilst in the airport .

It aint the planes,  ships but there are some dirty bad mannered folk out there who are the problem .

Totally agree. 2018 we went on a Marella cruise and I came home with the most awful cough that lasted months and I ended up on an inhaler. Most of the ship was coughing through the week. Ah the pre-Covid joys when you could cough in peace (or not!)

Back to the OP and away from the coughing thread.

We havent sailed P&O for years. We are definitely on the side or a family resort style ship. Mainly down to wanting more on a ship for our daughter, water slides, better kids facilities etc. Keep her entertained. P&O never really offered it berfore. They are getting better with Arvia, mini golf, high ropes etc so we took a punt on a summer cruise on Arvia for this Aug. Will be interesting to see how it compares with our expectations.

We also went with P&O simply for value for money. Royal our usual go too has started to go silly money for a 7 day cruise and the service/food has really gone downhill. But then all cruise lines have changed since covid/cost of living etc.

Id rather go on a few cruises rather then saving for two years just to go on royal.

Of course i may change my mind after Aug lol. But we are looking forward to the new experience.

P&O is changing and heading more down market I think, particularly in terms of service.

A bit more Ryan Air "take it or leave it" kind of customer experience. Like with noisy cabins and generally useless organisation of shuttles, queues on board and barely functional app.  I think P&O know about these things but they don't really have the committment to sort them out as that's not really where the brand is positioned.

But the price reflects this to an extent. Cost per night is so much better than hotel holidays and the entertainment and food is mostly really good.

On the point of the app, we know Princess have a much better system with medallion and yet despite that being already available Carnival UK put out this crap app for P&O UK.

I think I saw somewhere this is being reversed though and hopefully p&o will get the Princess system soon.

Good morning fellow traveller.  Better today hopefully.  The Italian' s are running the buses, what could possibly go wrong!!!!?

Did you enjoy yesterday, getting the nice message we won't be charged for the Palma debacle?  Great for us select fare bods, marvellous compensation.

Never mind I'm in Italy, the sun is shiing here in Portovenere and that very big gelato I just ordered is on its way. Not an app.in sight thankfully.

Hotel holidays abroad, like for like, are  cheaper than  cruise cabins especially if you have chosen select cabins with balcony and a drinks package! Our usual 4* hotel includes air fare, sea view. drinks, great food and private transfers for £2,200 for 14 nights and guaranteed good weather (with plenty to do + entertainment and a casino within a couple of hundred yards.) Unbeatable.

Oh my! @Megabear2 @DS_DeanP&O at their finest again in not thinking fully about that one 😂 Cards stopped being scanned on the return journey anyway weren't they? So they wouldn't know who used it.

I hope you are both having a lovely day (enjoy that gelato!) And good luck with the buses!

Porto Venere and sun sounds great to me. Just about to start raining in Spain! Enjoy.
