Haven upgrade advice

We need some advice.  We are booked in a balcony room on Prima in late August. We have submitted multiple bids for a haven room.   Last 3 cruises we have booked haven direct, this cruise the price differential was too much for our pocketbook.   BUT prices have dropped on haven and between our HE bid and booking direct is just $1500.   If we were to upgrade direct, will we  receive any additional upgrade offers to higher level haven?   Ideally we would like an AFT haven suite- but again too pricey direct.

Welcome to CC.  No added benefits other than what may come with a certain room category like OS or higher.  Of course you have dedicated lounge, restaurant, and sun deck including a pool.  Found food was consistently good in restaurant.

Yes.  We have paid to move ourselves from balcony to the Haven after bidding had started but the price came down.  When you do it this way, you get the extra Latitude nights from a Haven booking.  If you win a bid, you only get the standard latitude points from your original cabin booking.

After we changed our cabin, We had to contact NCL to have them do some sort of "reset" and then we got a new invitation, with new bidding opportunities.  We didn't bother bidding again as we were happy with the suite we had purchased directly, but the answer to your question is YES.

That does not answer the question.

Yes. Once you pay for a Haven room, you will get offers based on your booked class.

There are over 1000 cabins that could bid on the 90ish Haven rooms, so the probability of winning a bid are very very very low. If you want a Haven room and the price difference is tolerable, pay for the Haven room. You’re paying retail. It is not an “upgrade”.

I just tried the link, get:

We are sorry, we have no space available

does this mean the Haven is fully booked?

The web site is sometimes quirky when showing which cabins and cabin categories are available.  But usually if it states the category is unavailable, it’s sold out!

That said, I’ve seen the WEB site offer upgrades to categories that had been sold out for a while.

I have bid on upgrades, never won one.  More than once i wasn’t informed of not winning an upgrade until I was already checked in and on board!

This was not the case for us.  We’ve won bids into the Haven twice.  We earned points for a Haven cabin.  We also weren’t charged the extra DSC for the Haven.  (We had prepaid the DSC for the original balcony cabin.)

Use the link if you have been invited to bid. That is normally about 100 days to departure. If your cruise is well in the future or your travel agent does not support upgrade bids, you will not be allowed to bid.
