Alberta54 Posted June 11, 2023 #1 Share Posted June 11, 2023 Does anyone know if there are any free shuttles or low cost transportation from pier 91 to either the space needle or pike’s market? Looks like catching the bus could be a challenge on the bridge. Some cities tourism departments offer low cost shuttles to encourage ship passengers to explore the city. I’m not sure if .Seattle offers this. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.
Rare Ferry_Watcher Posted June 11, 2023 #2 Share Posted June 11, 2023 No free shuttles. You are correct that catching the bus on the bridge would be challenging, as you would have to carry any luggage up 2 flights of stairs. Without luggage, it would be doable. Best option is to use either a taxi or an Uber/Lyft car.
Alberta54 Posted June 11, 2023 Author #3 Share Posted June 11, 2023 Thanks for your reply. Won’t have luggage as it is a port day.
Rare 1025cruise Posted June 11, 2023 #4 Share Posted June 11, 2023 If it's a port day, you sure you're going to 91? Most port stops go to 66 downtown.
Meander Ingwa Posted June 12, 2023 #5 Share Posted June 12, 2023 If you are docked at pier 66 you can walk to Pike Place Market. The Monorail is about 4 blocks from the east entrance of the market. That will take you to the center. You can easily get Lyft or Uber back to the ship. It will be a full day
Alberta54 Posted June 13, 2023 Author #6 Share Posted June 13, 2023 Thanks for your reply. Won’t have luggage as it is a port day. Yes, Princess docks at Smith Cove, pier 91 in September.
Glaciers Posted June 13, 2023 #7 Share Posted June 13, 2023 If you’re walkers it’s less than 3 miles to the Space Needle and can be a beautiful walk along the waterfront on the Elliott Bay Trail. I see people waking to/from the terminal each time there is a ship in port and most are schlepping luggage which you’d be free of. You could take the monorail from the Space Needle area to near Pike Place Market and then cab back to the ship.
Meander Ingwa Posted June 13, 2023 #8 Share Posted June 13, 2023 agree with Glaciers, if you are good walkers, the Elliot Bay Trail / Centennial Trail is nice and that will get you to the Olympic Sculpture Park then upward to the Market. Zoom in on your Google Mapp to see it as an option. On a sunny day it is really a beautiful trip. You can then go onward to the Center via the Monorail and back to the ship on Uber /Lyft. Rare irvington Posted June 14, 2023 #9 Share Posted June 14, 2023 I like walking but Uber and Lyft work great in Seattle.
Rare Ferry_Watcher Posted June 14, 2023 #10 Share Posted June 14, 2023 If you are on the Majestic Princess, then it looks like you are at Pier 91 Oct 2. Since it looks like the Majestic Princess will be the only ship at Pier 91, I wonder if the cruise line will offer an excursion / coach transport to either Seattle Center (Space Needle, Chihuly Garden & Glass, and the Museum of Pop Culture) or Pike Place Market. If no cruise line sponsored group transportation is offered, then you will have to rely on taxi's just showing up looking for fares, of calling for an Uber or Lyft. Meander Ingwa Posted June 17, 2023 #12 Share Posted June 17, 2023 Uber Lyft are well served in Seattle. Many younger folks here dont own cars and use U/L for their needs when required.
