Short cruise out of L.A. Concierge Class or no?

Celebrity is offering some good prices on short cruises on Eclipse out of L.A.   I could get a veranda guarantee for 6 nights, or a concierge class guarantee for $150 more per person.  Would you spend the extra money for the concierge class?

I'm thinking maybe, as a veranda GUAR might be partially obstructed but a Concierge Class would not be, as I understand it.  Of course, I might be able to use the Captain's Club upgrade to get away from obstructed, but not sure how that would work on a GUAR booking.

Your thoughts?

  • Stockjock changed the title to Short cruise out of L.A. Concierge Class or no?

No.  I would put that $300 towards a specialty dining package.

Sorry, I highly doubt a guarantee booking is eligible for the one-category Captain’s Club upgrade.  However, I must say there are some “Exciting Deals” on those 6-night sailings.

The Captains Club one category upgrade does not apply to guarantee bookings

In that case, might be worth $150 pp to ensure that I don't have a lifeboat in front of me.  Wouldn't be a huge deal to me, but my buddy could be a bit more fussy about it.

I would probably pay to avoid obstructed views, but whether or not you do that, I certainly wouldn't waste any money on specialty dining. I would use the savings for a real restaurant on land.

The Concierge Class veranda cabin is Not worth the higher cost.

Just book a regular veranda cabin and spend the savings on something else.

I booked Aqua A 2 guarantee. A day after booking I was given a cabin very forward not to my liking. Called my TA asked if there was a chance to be moved, stated I am Elite Plus.  Yes I was relocated to a great cabin location A 1. Don’t know if my level got me the upgrade.

How did you get that much OBC?  I think I can get $200 OBC from my Amex Platinum Cruise Privileges, but $300 is better.  Considering that same date.  My buddy has to clear it w/his GF.

How much time do you spend on the balcony?

Save the $, invest it wisely in the Casino and use the winnings to book another cruise. 😀😂😀

@Stockjock we recently booked a "free" cruise through Blue Chip and by virtue of that booking we essentially got a guarantee balcony assignment...we were given the highest level veranda cabin you can get without getting into the Concierge category.  Deck 7 mid ship...no obstructed view.  For a short cruise like this I would roll the dice and book the guarantee...unless of course, you're interested in the Concierge class embarkation day lunch in the MDR...for that benefit you'd be paying $150 bucks pp...which is a very pricey lunch!
