Thanks for bring so prompt. We did this same trip when they repositioned the Royal in 2019 to the west coast, except we obviously went the other way around! It was wonderful.

Will certainly be on the lookout for the elite release. Thanks again.

Under the trees in front of the Sheraton at Black Rock? We were there yesterday, then had dinner at Duke's.

It's pretty awesome to live here. 😊

Didn't see any shade over there.  Am closer to the whaler's village.

The is a large tree shaded area in front of the Sheraton where you can watch the people jumping off of Black Rock. It's a great float and snorkel area and my favorite spot on the island. Give it a try if you feel like walking a bit further. 👍

Are there still turtles in that area around the rock?

Snorkeled there with huge turtles following below us. The current was really strong around the rock.  We stayed at that Sheraton.

The cake decorating was booked at the Kids Club for $10.  They were having two sessions during this voyage, 15 kids per session.

It was held in the galley for the Michelangelo MDR.  They had to wear long pants, closed toed shoes and were provided latex gloves.  Parents were not allowed in the galley.

The photo does not do the cake justice and it was really tasty!

This is fantastic! What a fun memory for her. Gosh, I hope they offer this on our cruise 🤞🏻

It was a beautiful day today.  First let me start with the water shuttle situation.  Debbie and I went to the Michelangelo MDR at 10 am (designated for Elite water shuttles).  We were in the shuttle and on our way ashore at 10:30.

Our kids were meeting friends that are vacationing on the island.  They picked up their water shuttle tickets at 10:30, after sleeping in.  They did not make it ashore until 12:30!

Apparently, the port authorities slowed down the speed of the shuttles arrival into the marina.  We heard lots of complaints and many folks missed their independent excursions.

We walked around, did a little shopping and had lunch at Kimo's.  We were back on the water shuttle at 1:30, no waiting at all.

Kimo's is my favorite restaurant in Maui and we go there often. It is a sister restaurant to Duke's and part of the TS Restaurant Group.

Hawaii and California Locations | T S Restaurants

About once a year we go to Mama's Fish House to spend stupid amounts of money, and while the atmosphere is sublime, I don't think the food is any better than Kimo's.

Have you tried Kimo's Hula Pie?

Did you do a ship excursion? If so which one we are wanting to visit the beach and whalers village.

We did not have a ship excursion.  We waited in line to get shuttle group 3.  We were prepared to get a later shuttle, but got lucky.

If it helps at all, what we have done in Maui off of a cruise is Uber to The Kaanapali Beach Hotel and rent chairs and an Umbrella for a beach morning. It’s pretty reasonable and the restrooms are accessible. Last time we also had lunch at Hui Hui at the hotel and it was great. It is walking distance to Whalers Village too.
There is also a bus that goes up to Whalers village from Lahaina but it can get very busy and I don’t think it’s worth the savings.

@LACruiser88, we are really enjoying your trip report so far. Great pictures.

We have no interest in the luau and would just be going for the day.

I don't love ship excursions because of the hurry-up-and-wait and overcrowded aspects but I'll look into private tour companies.

We've been to Honolulu multiple times and I was just looking for something we haven't done already.

I really liked the different lands & wished we had gotten there when it opened to have more time...I would go again even though it is not inexpensive...so yes for what you want it should work well

Does that mean they possibly have covid?  I have never seen this before?

Curious why you think the patio footstool would mean someone is sick??   we have a balcony on deck 11, that there were NO footstools, so I asked our Room Steward for 2… we were in and he dropped them off.   Maybe the same issue???   But, they left it at the door???

The table was there for 48 hrs, lots of dirty dishes left on it, and red bio-hazard bags also on the table throughout the day with trash.

Good indication that someone was ill.  🤔

Thank you so much this is basically what we wanted some tome at the beach and then to wander the whalers village.   Mind if I ask how much the Uber's were and the rental of chairs/umbrella so I can add to my budget sheet for an approximate amount? Was the hotel rentals cash only or any payment type? Thank you for your help.

Here is the link: https://www.kbhmaui.com/activities/ocean-activities

This only shows the price for the cabanas which you can pre-reserve at $75 for the day (includes waters). We didn’t pre-reserve and ended up getting 2 chairs and an umbrella instead which was around $45. I used a CC.We arrived at around 9:30 am and there were both options still available, but we were only planning to be at the beach for a few hours and didn’t think we needed the cabana. The hut that rents the chairs and cabanas also rents snorkel gear, and other items, but we had our own. When you get to the hotel, walk through it straight to the beach and the hut us there.
The Ubers were about $15 each way. Once we were off of the tender we walked up front street a few blocks to get the Uber as it is very congested around the tender pier.

I think the Sheraton at Black Rock also has rentals at their beach, but we found the KBH the most reasonable.

Wow, I didn’t know they did something like that.  I would think they’d want to keep it on the QT…

We ate at LeiLani’s by the Sea today.  Leilani’s, Hula Grill and Kimos, all owned by the same corporation, and all have great food!!  We also had HULA pie today

That is so much more appetizing than those "sundaes" you get with the beverage package.
