Airbear232 Posted July 8, 2023 #1 Share Posted July 8, 2023 Hello, looking for feedback on a good wheelchair for use on a Viking River Cruise on the Danube. We're looking to travel with our Aunt who is 87 this autumn. She can walk a bit but will need a wheelchair to get the most out of port days. Has anyone used a wheelchair on Viking River cruises? Do you have any tips? Which excursions would you recommend from Amsterdam to Budapest? Thanks in advance.
Rare 1025cruise Posted July 8, 2023 #2 Share Posted July 8, 2023 Unfortunately, most river cruises aren't really designed for wheelchair users in mind.
FOPMan Posted July 9, 2023 #3 Share Posted July 9, 2023 Many river cruises require you to cross over multiple ships to get to the dock. There is not often a wheelchair friendly path.
Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted July 9, 2023 #4 Share Posted July 9, 2023 Sorry that this got moved to River Cruising, where I don't think you'll find many people with the specialized expertise you are looking for. But I see that you have also started a thread on Disabled Cruise Travel about a specific type of wheelchair – this is the thread that I think is most relevant for your questions beyond the replies that you have already gotten here about the problems that a wheelchair user will face on most river cruises.
