What to do in Ushuaia

We want to book a private tour, hopefully with another couple on our roll call. The operator asked what we’d like to do…hiking, sightseeing or a combo. What shouldn’t we miss?  What did you enjoy the most?

Six of us did a small group tour to Tierra del Fuego National Park.  Did 4 hikes in different areas.  Saw the old train but did not ride it.  Went to the end of the world post office.  One hike ended at the terminus of the Panamerican highway.   Had a snack break picnic of coffee or mate with homemade dulce de leche cake made by guides wife.  Was spectacular excursion.  Used AlmaCalma.

When we were in Ushuaia last December, ourselves and another couple used a local guide (Frederico) with Anan Turismo.

You can contact Frederico at: ananturismo (@) gmail (.) com

Although we did not do a hiking tour with him, he does offer several tours which include hiking.

We did a review of our cruise and you can see our comments on Ushuaia/Frederico starting at Post #116.

We used Alma Carma tours. 4 of us had the best day in Tierra del Cuego with Nicholas. He is so knowledgeable and so nice. He will customize your tour and do whatever you’d like. We did 6 hours with him. We did light hiking all around and had the best time. We saw everything!  Why do it yourself?

We have a car booked through Alamo.  $120.

Thank you for response!  We decided NOT to do the car rental because it appears that Celebrity will take our passports when we board, and we need the passport to rent the car.  We weren't 100% we would be able to get them for Ushuaia so we decided not to risk it.

Gosh I didn’t think about that !! But it won’t matter , we have decided not to rent a car either . We have pre booked a taxi that will take us to Tierra Del Fuego & wait while we visit the sites and take a few short hikes. It’s about the same cost  as the car rental

Is the driver taking you to the different sites?  Will he explain what you’re seeing?  We hiked in 4 different places and learned so much about the native population and the history.  I wouldn’t do a ship tour, but think about a private tour with a few others from your roll call.

Which taxi service are you using?
