We are cruising on my 4 year old’s birthday. I’ve never really cared to decorate a room before. What are the guidelines for light decorating? I have looked on Carnival, but still not sure. Any tips for birthday celebration is appreciated. Thanks!

We have hung birthday banners and balloons.  You might also check out Carnival's offerings.  I ordered Happy Birthday decorations for a recent cruise and it looked great.  My husband was surprised and really enjoyed them - especially his special pillowcase.

When we took our girls cruise last fall, we decorated our cabin for my BFF's birthday which was earlier in the month. I bought some decorations on Amazon and brought them with us. We snuck back to the cabin while she was busy making some last minute calls to her family and decorated. It was not as easy or quick as I expected it to be. First - make sure you bring tape/double sided tape or some kind of sticky stuff to hang items on the walls/ceilings. Command hook type stuff can work as well. Alot of our decor needed to be assembled - banners had to have letters hung on the string, balloons have to be blown up, etc. It was fun to surprise her....but looking back, I wish I would have just paid for Carnival to hang their decorations up for us instead! Then I could have enjoyed another Fun Ship Special up on desk with the rest of our group! 🙂

Just note tape and anything sticky are against the rules from Carnival as it can damage the paint walls, better to use magnet hooks.  Also you should bring non flammable things to hang

I would just like maybe a banner and a couple balloons. I know about nonflammable, I think that is what I am having a difficult time with.

Banners and or danglers and attach with strong magnets. Have never had issues with magnet on ceilings to include halls. Walls and doors are hit/miss. For walls/doors use the command strips.

Many people use non-flammable items purchase at dollar stores.

Can have a banner or poster made in advance that is personalized.

I would let the ship do it.  Fairly reasonable in pricing and more Fun time for you.  https://www.carnival.com/special-occasion-gifts-cabin-decor?q=:recommended:category:state-room-decorations&sort=recommended&page=0

Amazon has big sections magnetic door/wall decorations. I just bought a set that says my bday cruise with  fish. Since all wall are metal you can decorate the walls but bring extra magnets since sometimes the decorations magnets are not very strong. You can also buy clines at dollar store that can go on the mirror just make sure they are static not sticky
