Live from the NCL Star July 23-August 15, 2023. Will I survive 23 days without the beverage package?

I know I know.... California rolls are one of the foods I can eat though... I have some food allergies and so also my selection on a small cruise ship are often limited.  I eat what I can...😜Thatˋs why I totally understand your food issue on the Star and how you may feel.

Does the garden cafe have a decent salad bar on the star?  For both lunch and dinner?

Yes, they do. It has improved since day one. The selection is not huge but the vegetables have been fresh and of good quality. I’ve had it twice. They now include beans each day.

The sushi station has been very popular on the Star!

@YVRteacher…love….LOVE the pics.  The service/food situation you’re going through POs me to no end.

This is a total failure of the GM, the Capt, and ultimately NCL for letting that happen.  I know NCL takes CC members’ opinions seriously.  Maybe worth a chat with the GM.  Show him a couple of your posts here (say the LaCucina and Garden Cafe posts) and give a link to this review.

To me, the Capt and GM need to be accountable.

The rest?  You’ve done a wonderful job and I’m enjoying it immensely.

Itˋs not fur! It´s reindeer glitter!😉

Well then I hope the tour bus driver for tonight likes reindeer glitter because I am spreading it far and wide.

I’m really enjoying your live review and I’m so sorry about the food situation. I’m really shocked that NCL is serving food like that!
When you return home you might want to check out Cecilia Blomdahl, if you haven’t already.

She has a YouTube page and a TikTok account and lives in Svalbard near the town of Longyearbyen. She posts beautiful videos of her life there and her dog Grim is a beautiful bonus! Her TikTok account is @sejsejlija

That was heaven on a plate!

I assume that's real whipped cream in those desserts and not artificial "creme"? If so, it looks quite yummy...and probably tastes even yummier.

That cake looks like something you would get in Ireland, made with real cream. It looks delicious!

Hope you enjoy your evening tour!

The library is lovely but there are no windows and it is dark. They have a great selection of books!

Not entirely true. It's not dark and it does have a window. Sort of anyway. (Was not able to attach photo, but it's a large window to one corridor that in turn has a good sea view)

@YVRteacher the cake you chose is a real favourite in Norway, called «World’s best»/norw: «Verdens beste», or «Kvæfjordkake».

I’m quite sure they use real whipped cream and not artificial in that bakery.

Does this mean I might find this cake at other bakeries in Norway? We have several ports in Norway coming up!!!

Have you had it before and did you like it as much as I did?

World’s Best is not an understatement!

Wow that bakery looks fantastic! I could spend an hour or two in there and call it a food tour...!

Yes to that! The bakery is also a chocolate shop and has sandwiches, pizza and salads. It also serves as the town’s very elegant home store, wool store, crochet needle sales place (they had an entire case of crochet needles behind glass) baskets, blankets, candles, soap, lotion and woollen booties. It’s a beautiful place with many tables inside and outside, a coffee and tea bar as well as wine and beer.
