Silverhairedbee Posted July 29, 2023 #1 Share Posted July 29, 2023 My wife and I are looking forward to the 3rd October, Emerald Isles cruise from Southampton. We notice under our Latitudes Rewards (Saphire) that a “Dinner for Two with a bottle of Wine” and “ Dinner for Two” is included. Does anyone know what that actually means given the number of complimentary restaurants. Thanks in advance for any responses.
GALSews Posted July 29, 2023 #2 Share Posted July 29, 2023 See NCL Latitudes Rewards | Cruise Loyalty Program for latitude benefits and explanations. The dining is number 6. Basically, you get a bottle of wine at one venue and you don't at another. It also explains what menu items you can get and at which retaurants. bjlaac Posted July 29, 2023 #3 Share Posted July 29, 2023 (edited) In a nut shell, You have a choice of dinner for two at either the french specialty or steakhouse and dinner for two at either the Italian or Brazilian venues. This might change slightly depending on ship. You also get a free bottle of wine at one of the dinners, I think its only available at the French or Steakhouse but I could be wrong. Its a very limited list of wine choices but you will find something. Also, the benefit is per cabin so there's no double benefit if both you and your travel partner are the same level. Finally, the menu choices are limited to one each of an appetizer, main course and desert. If you were paying for the specialty they use to let you choose more than one appetizer if you liked. Have not sailed NCL since the reboot so things may have changed a little. Hope that helps. Edited July 29, 2023 by bjlaac
Gonflipin Posted July 29, 2023 #4 Share Posted July 29, 2023 You just book a reservation as you normally would and then give them the certificate (or whatever you get) at the dinner?

Does anyone know what that actually means given the number of complimentary restaurants. Thanks in advance for any responses. The correct answer is that you get a dinner for two at any specialty dining restaurant with a bottle of wine. And you get a second dinner for two at any specialty dining restaurant without wine. The offer gives you one appetizer, one entrée, and one dessert. Most ships also give you one soup/salad (total of four courses) since that is what the specialty dining package includes. You can pick any item from the menu. If the menu item has an specialty dining upcharge (i.e., and extra $25 for Lobster Thermador at Le Bistro), you pay the upcharge. Bottle of Wine with Dinner: You are given a "special" latitudes wine list for this selection. You can have the bottle of wine with dinner or ask your server not to open the bottle and take it with you. There is one exception which is the Palomar restaurant on the Prima/Viva where the Latitudes wine is not offered (they have their own special wine list at that restaurant). Reservations. Pre-cruise dinner reservations open exactly 125 days prior to departure, 12 midnight U.S. eastern time (130 days if you are in the Haven or full suite, 120 days for general reservations). Your reservations opened on 31 May 2023 and some/most of the prime time dining (e.g., 5:30-8:00, especially on sea days) may already be sold out (you have waited too long to book a table). Decide today where you would like to dine and see if you can book a table online. If not, that needs to be your priority as soon as you embark. When making reservations, book Moderno Brazilian BBQ and Teppanyaki first before any a la cart restaurants. That ensures that the system does not try and charge you for the meal. Other Sapphire Stuff. On embarkation day, stop at the Cruise Next desk to book your behind the scenes tour, dining with the officers, and Wines Around the World wine tasting event. All three are benefits of being a Sapphire member and all three will sell out on embarkation day. So don't miss out on your entitlements. During your cruise, you are entitled to a free bag of laundry - fill the bag, fill out the itimisation slip, and write "Sapphire Free" in the dollar amount. The Star is a lovely ship and it sounds like a great itinerary. Enjoy your cruise. Enjoy your Sapphire entitlements! Example Latitudes Wine List from May 2023 (your selections will differ slightly)

At restaurants like Food Republic, you can choose four items per person. You can also use it for sushi. The only restaurant excluded is Palomar. Rare insidecabin Posted July 29, 2023 #7 Share Posted July 29, 2023 You can use the vouchers at any speciality it changed from the specific ones ages ago. What you get can vary by server, some are more generous and allow starter and soup/salad some stick to the rules. On the Star you can also get 4items each off the sushi menu when eating there or ginza.
JamesIowa Posted July 29, 2023 #8 Share Posted July 29, 2023 Read the t and c’s, for the first time apparently. Any idea what this means (from https://www.ncl.com/latitudes-rewards-program Coupons can’t be used for the same venue twice.

I was listing the restaurants where we had personally received the free bottle of wine. All within the last 3 months. I'm sure there are others. Anything over 6 months is ages ago, and any personal experiences over 6 months become unreliable to pass on without clarification it's old information and potentially out of date. In other words, 2 ship tours in 15 days vs 1 ship tour in 7? Thanks.

At the moment, since they have not done it since pre-pandemic, there has been a bigger demand for ship tours on our past couple of cruises (they just restarted them). A similar question...mentioned in another thread: Our Mediterranean cruise departs from Rome on September 14, The same cruise departs from Barcelona four days earlier. The Barcelona embarkers will have first crack at the Platinum events, since they can sign up for Platinum events before we even get on the ship. Granted, we will be on the ship four days after they disembark...but that does no good if the Platinum events (Wines Around the World, Behind the Scenes tour, etc.) are held in the first four days. How do they schedule these so everyone has a crack at them? I doubt they would schedule them twice. This will be our first Platinum cruise and really want to partake of all the benefits, Hoping @BirdTravelscan provide some insight.
