AKL to SYD Flight post HAL cruise

Hi Folks

 

Looking to book flight from Auckland to Sydney post HAL NZ cruise in February. Suitable flight times are in the afternoon, starting at 1335 then a further 2 and a half hours for other flights.

 

Will we have plenty of time to debark, get to the airport and catch the 1335 flight?  For convenience we will probably use the cruise line shuttle.

Sounds doable to me. Have done this in the past but I can't remember the detail.

Definitely sounds doable - not too early to make you sweat should there be a delay docking or debarking, and not too late giving you too much time to kill at the airport 🙂

Should be a reasonable amount of time. The airport is about a 20 - 30 minute drive from the port. A taxi would cost about $50 NZ, and might be more comfortable than the ship shuttle.  A big line of taxis meets all the cruise ships.

As it is, the only fares available now are "saver" fares which allows changes for $100 if things go belly up.

Are you going to book through HAL? If not have a look what their fares are like. If they are comparable or cheaper book through them. Then if there is a major delay docking I believe the onus is on them to get you to the airport on time or provide you with an alternative flight.

 

We booked through HAL when we flew SYD to AKL last December. We got a very good deal.

Thanks OzKiwiJJ. Darn. Never thought of that. As it is the fare (cancellable, changeable for $100) was just over NZD1100 for 2 which I didn't think was too bad.

Next time maybe. The cruise lines sometimes offer some very cheap deals on some airlines - not the premium ones but still good quality ones. Sometimes you can get a one way business class fare cheaper than a premium airline economy fare.
