What to do in Galveston

I'm wondering what people like to do in Galveston after getting off the ship.  We don't fly out from IAH until 8 in the evening and we'll have all that luggage to tow around so I'm wondering how to kill some time without waiting at the airport that whole time.  I realize we'll have to allow time to get back to Houston.

Some cruise lines offer a transfer to the airport which includes a sight seeing tour.

We did  this several years ago and it was interesting.  IIRC you get to the airport around 1PM.

Our cruise on rccl offers a trip to space center then drop you off at the airport.

Walk around the Strand right across from the cruise terminal. Lots of shops and restaurants.
