Cherry on Top gift card from OBC not working…

On our July 2023 cruise on Valor we had $175 OBC not used so at Cherry on Top we bought a $175 gift card with the leftover OBC.  Now when I go to use it towards payment of an upcoming December 2023 Venezia cruise it is saying “not valid”.  Does anybody know if this can only be used while on board our next cruise or if it should be able to be used for cruise payment?  Ugghh!!

Thank you in advance for any direction.

We have used carnival gift cards (purchased at Cherry on top) for payments a bunch of times

Numerous posts about people buying gift cards from Cherry on Too to use up remaining OBC.

You could try calling in to have passenger services process the payment. if it doesn't work, you can ask them about it.

Good luck and let us know the outcome.

Thank you for posting and I hope you get it straightened out. I have read numerous times on the forum about people buying Carnival gift cards with OBC at Cherry On Top. We have a cruise booked under a casino offer in early January that has $1500 OBC. I was planning for the hubby and I to each buy a $500 gift card and use the other $500 on board. Like you I was going to use the gift cards to pay down the balance due for another cruise. I would be super bummed if they didn’t work, please come back and let us know of you were able to get your card activated.

It likely is going to be the gift card itself.  We do this ALL the time in Cherry on Top and have never had an issue using them later (and I literally mean thousands of dollars worth over the last couple years).  I would use the link someone else posted and I will bet that you will find the gift card is inactive or shows 0 balance.  They may have made a mistake on board the ship when activating it.

Did you keep the receipt they give you?  If the card is bad only Carnival will be able to help you.  You can reach the fun shops through Carnival and explain the situation and see if they can help.  Just tell them you bought it on board ship/sailing and let them know it is showing a zero balance now that you got it home.

PS:  Word to the wise ALWAYS check your gift card balances as soon as possible after receiving them to make sure they are good (regardless of where you get them).  Human error can cause the occasional OOPs when processing a gift card and it is better to know and deal with it right away then much later.

I have bought these onboard also and checked the balance shortly after purchase. I believe the wifi allows free access to carnival sites so you can check your balance and nip any problems in the bud.

You can use this link to check the balance of the gift card, and you’ll know if the problem is the gift card or the payment processing page.

Thank you so much for this link.  I just checked 3 cards we got from Cherry totalling $400 and they are all good.
